Source: Heat Vision September 28, 2010

Black Swan helmer Darren Aronofsky has joined the list of potential directors for Warner Bros.' new Superman movie, reports Heat Vision.

The list includes Duncan Jones, Jonathan Liebesman, Matt Reeves, Tony Scott and Zack Snyder. The trade adds that Ben Affleck was also briefly in the running but he is reportedly no longer pursuing the job.

Aronofsky is said to be in active talks, though it's early.

Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas will executive produce the film, targeted for a 2012 release.

Probably quite a controversial first post then (been lurking almost daily for two years), but I have to admit that I didn't enjoy it :emb:
Hey Buddy! Welcome!!!

No problem having a different opinion! As I said earlier, I loved it, BUT not as much as I wanted to.

The way they showed us the entire movie in "flashback mode" seemed off for me. And yeah, shaky cam in all the action killed some fun for me too.

But overall, I was pleased and can't wait to see the sequel. I'm looking at this MoS as Batman Begins did... so set the table for a MUCH BIGGER (and better) sequel! :scat:

Welcome aboard Gareth... all opinions welcome here! Having gone through at-least 15 other forums for various purposes (still do) HDN community is the best/friendliest one I have been a part of. :)

Very good film. Some of the action scenes left me wanting for a little more, but after having some time to fully consider my feelings on the film I can't wait to head back to the theater to see this again.
Visually stunning. Aurally pleasing (love me some Zimmer). Great performances.

Thanks for the welcome everyone, much appreciated. :scat: This forum has always been great in making me spend money, but I 've also enjoyed reading other parts of the forum (such as this one) in recent weeks, thank you!

Back on topic and like others here, I am hopeful for a better sequel. The Superman character is always a tricky one to portray and I suppose at least MOS got me thinking about the character again. The flashbacks were definitely the best bits for me.

I've been thinking about this since I saw it:

So I guess I am a bit torn with this, didn't Superman kill 100,000s of people by carelessly destroying most of Metropolis? He does seem repentant of killing Zod, but he just killed many more in the process. I guess that's what really is bugging me. People seem to be ok accepting such a huge collateral damage in order to take out Zod. Personally that seems to completely contradict what Superman is about.

The way I have looked at this forum, it has made me spent money so that I can have beautiful pieces of art to enjoy, a great many meaningful conversations to share and bountiful memories to bank away :D

No spoilers here - yes that is tough to take on the surface but I think they set it up with prior scenes so that Kal will have this incident to go back to in order to fulfill his role and fully define what he is all about.

Well WB stock is tracking to a 12 month high based on MoS BO returns (article link).

So how about a US world-wide exclusive steelbook release to say thank you to your fans? Please?

just saw this today with my daughter! money well spent! ;-)

although we did wait up to almost the end of the end credits...but decided to ask the cleaners if there is something at the end ala Marvel...nada!

so most likely (hopefully) Luthor in the 2nd one just like arch nemesis Joker was on the 2nd Dark Knight movie...

I'd say that's pretty much a given :D

Though a steelbook release is a given, I am hoping WB don't be greedy and repeat the TDKR steelbook debacle last fall with a worldwide same old, same old release. Hopefully MoS will get premium and special treatment for each region's steelbook release.

Another big weekend coming up with China and European openings!! It could hit $400 million worldwide this time next week :scat:

Im glad to see most people enjoyed it like i did! Ive seen it twice now and gotta agree with Drum it was so much better the second time, it was aslo my first time watching a movie in imax 3d and it was amazing. I have been waiting for this movie for so long im glad they finally made what i was looking for, it was on a different level of epic. I have read a lot of the reviews complaining about pacing and no emotion but personally i loved the way it was fast paced and it kept jumping from him being a child to an adult. As for no emotion i have no idea what there talking about there were certain lines with Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner that sent chills down my spine and the last flash back with Costner brought a tear to my eye! As for the action Snyder was the man to do it and make Superman look like what he really is a god amongst men. I loved it and it topped the Avengers for me lets just hope the sequel is equally as good and keeps the amazing action!

I've seen this amazing movie 3 times now. Imo this is a masterpiece, don't listen to all the stupid critics giving very bad reviews saying there's no emotion. I shed a tear multiple times during the movie, and the action in this movie is the best I've ever seen in live action, it was like watching something out of Dragon Ball Z! Will definitely be watching it another couple of times in theaters, I think it's the best comic book movie ever made, even better than the entire Dark Knight trilogy. It is in my top 3 movies of all time. I hope the sequels will be at least on par with this. Can't wait for the Blu-ray!

Just shows how cinema can divide opinions and it sure would be a small world if everyone shared the same points of view. I don't think it's even the best Superhero movie Snyder has made, let alone some of the Marvel releases and TDK trilogy. But hey each to their own, bring on The Avengers 2 ;)

I don't want to start a debate here, but TDK for me is the best superhero movie out there.
