To be fair all the good ones have been done, don't waste your tears on the rest of them not being made.

Buying the rest of them would have been an uncomfortable ordeal, like hanging around at the bar with the drunks after last orders.

Shame to see this collection end, hopefully we'll see the likes of The Sword in the Stone and The Princess and the Frog will still get a steelbook release down the line.

On the tarzan thread, where the pic should be, they state the end of this collection. Zavvi really should have stated from the start - Zavvi's Disney collection 30/52 titles. Even though it is only 28 classics.

I am noticing that on amazon Germany you can get a couple of pixars, incredibles, wall-e etc

Would have liked the sword in the stone, Oliver and company, princess and the frog, rescuers down under and brother bear. Shame, the collection ends at 28 classics, but I appreciate what they've given so far.

I'm hoping that they decide to do the other ones down the road but if they decide to end it now I'm not too upset. They knew it was ending and made the last 5 titles the most requested titles.

I am not sure what to think.
As I have not managed to keep up with the releases I will now only buy outstanding ones of the films I really like and not try and get a complete collection as I have done with the normal Amaray releases. So I may now sell a few I have.

Disney UK only have 52 (the 2010 Winnie the Pooh isn't a classic apparently)

I hope in the future, zavvi releases:
Lilo & Stitch
The Sword in the Stone
Atlantis
Oliver & Company
Fantasia 2000
Planet Treasure
The Emperor's New Groove

They are great classics!!

PS: Coincidentally, they are the last blu ray release, a few months ago...

After asking Zavvi via Facebook why they have decided to stop the Disney Collection I was given this reply;

I am very sorry for this, unfortunately we have not had that information confirmed.

Apologies once again,

It seems their Facebook department don't speak to the Twitter department.

Still hoping it's all a mistake and their gonna start it up again next year.

I would prefer they did stop ok they have missed a few I really like, like sword in the stone, Oliver and company, etc slightly puzzled why they picked Tarzan over them but ah well.

I just don't want them to drag it out we are now doing Cinderella 3 and little mermaid 3 lol

Personally I'd have liked the whole lot, but if if they have been cancelled I'm sure there's a reason behind it.

That reason is probably financial (it usually is). Most have them still haven't sold out, the ones that remain are in and out of multi-buy deals and 20% off offers and we have no idea what the mark up is on these titles. Knowing Disney's dealings, I wouldn't be surprised if the profit Zavvi make off each one is quite small. Disney are well known for playing hardball with retailers and have been doing so since the VHS days.

I worked for Blockbuster when DVD first started. Disney wanted something like £40 per rental copy (the ones that had no features and white spines with 'rental copy' written in big black writing) when you could buy it from our own retail section for £12. Blockbuster said no so for a while we didn't stock those titles. They were almost impossible to sell on (because of the no features and spine) and many independents stopped their Disney rentals altogether. I'm not even talking about big movies, even STV titles.

Zavvi haven't helped their case by releasing so many so soon, although that could be Disney's call too. A lot of people who wanted Disney Blu-rays already owned them before the steelbook versions were released, and what with being able to pick them up in BOGOF offers at Amazon and in supermarkets for 1/3 of the price in regular amarays or green J-cards was probably too tempting to resist for many others.

Anyway, it's a shame but these things happen.
