Hi All,

It looks like our former thread has become unavailable, so I am posting a new one. Feel free to post pics and share your worst experiences with damaged Steelbooks as received from retailers. I've stickied this one for now.

Thanks,
DB

Another reason to keep it sealed. Those paper slips hide dents very well!!!

Ouch Che!!! I can tell your pain just from the tone of your voice. Who shipped it to you?

Bert did a bang up job with the bubble wrap. It's whatever destroyed that box that did it in. That needed a blessing from god to survive that damage. I have never seen an entire package of steelbooks that damaged before. Craziness.:(

I can only hope you send a picture and nasty email to the carrier. It works if you send to upper mangagment.

If people want to pay premium for sealed one, then it's all good with me :) I have plenty of sealed steelbook :)

:D

It was meant to be mint, but there's faint little scratches everywhere too. Needless to say im very annoyed. Luckily he insured the package so I expect all my money back.

Che, that was a gut wrenching video. Hopefully Bert can sort you out or more importantly the Couriers can. PM me if you want to.

Wow! Just wow! Why would anyone package something that valuable and dentable (they obviously knew it was) like that?! EEK!

My thoughts!
FFS! I don't get it, it's worth hundreds of dollars.. Dear god..

But as Micheil told us, the seller was also lying about the condition..

I hope that the insurance will pay. As they're no collectors, they will probably not understand that a freaking steelbook can be so valuable.

If anything it's taught me to specify how I want it packed before buying, I just assumed they knew how to pack it with it being so valuable. So glad I paid for insurance now though.

He definitely knew the value of it. Look at the auction it even states 'I will make sure that i ship this item with extra extra care - so it gets to you in perfect condition' :hilarious: :hilarious:

My copy of Girl With The Dragon Tattoo jus arrived yesterday. Hmv packaging is pitiful, just a small box and the steelbook rattles inside, you would think there something living inside!

The steelbook had so many dents it reminded me of my first car!

Made my day...

This guy does simply not know what the **** he's talking about. This case makes my kinda angry, although it's not my own copy..

That really is RIDICULOUS!!! How can someone be that stupid or lazy to NOT pack it inside a box??? 340 US Dollar and not 5 bucks for a box??? This guy should be banned from eBay forever for this packaging FAULT!!!
Another Iron man FS destroyed throug beeing a FOOL!!!

I don't know about the US, but the insurance would not pay out in the uk, as the the item is clearly not well packed. Seller is a total ass. If I were you, I would start a paypal claim now and send the IM back

What a bloody waste :(

I feel for you mate. Especially since a very similar incident that happened to me when I was sent a mint, flawless JB HiFi Avatar tin that cost me about $250 - in a jiffy bag! Needless to say it got trashed. What goes through these people's minds is beyond me. I'm wiling to bet not much.

In the case of something like Iron Man there are simply too many wheeler dealers out to make a fast buck on a product they know very little about. So I'd be very wary about buying any very expensive sb like that from a seller I hadn't used before unless 1) they sent me close up pics from every angle 2) they promised to send it in a box. A refusal to either of those and I'm out.

At least you'll get your money back on this one, which is something.

PS. Absolutely open a PayPal case now. The seller will then have to refund you and the shipping insurance will compensate him. PayPal will look after you.

So it's best to go right through PayPal and not eBay? I've never had to claim before. :(

Hell yeah man, that's no small money you paid for it and the seller is bloody idiot for packing such a valuable and ultra fragile item like that, hell HMV packs their stuff better even with those flimsy cardboard boxes hehe, get your money back through Paypal dispute now man, hope all gets sorted out for you in no time.
