Hi All,

It looks like our former thread has become unavailable, so I am posting a new one. Feel free to post pics and share your worst experiences with damaged Steelbooks as received from retailers. I've stickied this one for now.

Thanks,
DB

I received Shaun Of The Dead today from Amazon.ca. The usual Jiffy Bag and dents in the SteelBook. They replied within 30 minutes of me lodging a replacement request. They are going to send a replacement, and told me to keep the damaged one (its not too bad), but will I get another damaged one to add to my Amazon.ca collection?

I also left a very negative feedback on their packaging feedback page.

just goto your order page on amazon click contact cs you should be able to report feedback for your steelbook then you get options regarding the reporting of a damaged steelbook just tell them , send the email and wait for a reply :) simples

Thanks guys, i got a reply within half an hour, replacement being sent out and keeping this one. The damage isn't that bad but its there!

Damn Amazon and their tempting special offers. I ordered a steelbook their a few days ago. I vowed never to order another steelbook after the problems i've had in the past, but I caved in for that one. Was I really surprised when it arrived damaged?

lol just return it. I got a dented one a while ago and I am in canada. Amazon .ca is the worst out of all the amazons in terms of packaging.. or may be they like sending damaged steelbooks out

I had 6 arrive this week from Amazon Canada 5 dinted in sh***y jiffy bags
Normally they say keep them and get replacements but this time options are to send them all back or accept a 20% refund and keep them.
I went for the 20% money back but asked for the shipping back on each item so works out I got them half price. At £7 each I can handle a few dings

I got a refund on mine as usual. I won't order again until they've sorted out the packaging. As tempting as some of their offers are, it's just not worth the hassle.

You can always have a Canadian member pick them for you from FS as they should be having the same prices.

I tried that and joined a Canadian member's group buy. Unfortunately two of them had dents and another had paint issues all hiding under the backing sheet (obviously this can't be seen before opening). It creates an awkward situation as a buyer as you don't want people to stop doing group buys as most of the time it's perfectly fine.

As for my Amazon.ca order, I simply said that it had been damaged in transit and that their packaging wasn't on par with other Amazon sites. They said they would pass on it to the shipping department. Either they have communication issues or they're just not listening/willing to listen.

I think in future I will simply try to pick up open and mint copies where the seller can conclusively say that it is mint.

Thank you, Maybe now we can get this thread back on track. Yet again......

Sorry I thought this was a discussion forum? Feel free to report my posts if you disprove of them. I'm sure a mod can move them to the more relevant retailer thread.

Yeah that's what they told me too just last week. Either their 'shipping department' speaks French ot just flat out doesn't exist. After all the refunds Amazon end up giving out in the long run it can only be hurting them financially.

I've been having a problem specifically with Kill Bill volume 1. They just can't seem to seem me a mint copy of this. Funny thing is though the damage looks like it has already happened before leaving their warehouse, so either there is some kind of quality control issue or they just don't care what they send out. The fact that there are so many copies of it on Ebay listed with imperfections tells me i'm right about this.

Moved a bunch of posts from the price drop thread to this one.

Please use the appropriate threads for venting / damaged talk.

Also note that there is a new amazon packing thread for ones in Europe, if people want to use that thread to demonstrate the better types of packaging to amazon.ca, that might also be constructive and help folks in the long run.

Finally, if there are problems with items from a group buy host, please contact that member or a trading moderator for assistance.

Thank you.

Amazon E.s crammed 2 Gladiator/Robin hood double bills into a box so tight it caused this
 The box was packed so tight I had to carefully cutaway the cardboard. Thankfully they replaced the order for free :D
