Hi All,

It looks like our former thread has become unavailable, so I am posting a new one. Feel free to post pics and share your worst experiences with damaged Steelbooks as received from retailers. I've stickied this one for now.

Thanks,
DB

Question regarding purchases from ebay, hope someone can enlighten me.
i bought a steelbook and it arrived in worse condition than depicted.
if i seek a ebay/paypal claim as "significantly not described", will i get the full refund with my original shipping?
and do i have to bear my own shipping cost to send back the item?

If you go through ebay, they might be able to help you get a refund.
But going directly through paypal will not. They will only refund if you don't receive the item at all.
They don't like playing judge and juror, and keep it strictly to non received items.

Hi, it is not between eBay and you, but between the seller and you. Send the person a few emails, and if he doesn't reply, elevate it to a dispute.

G:box is right, PayPal wont help you, eBay may arbitrate in your favor. But most of the time, they leave it to the 2 parties to settle themselves, except for non-receipt with no evidence of sending.

Wow G:Box, sorry to see that mate. That Mission Impossible is one of the worst I have ever seen.:(

the seller is giving me two options:
1) send back the damaged item at my own shipping cost (which i dont think its fair)
2) keep the item and he will give me 50% refund

No it's normal. Those small indents are present on every single Steelbook. Sometimes they are more pronounced and noticeable though.

Epic fail on this drive steel

Thanks I was getting worried I never really noticed them :D

Not exactly sure if anyone else has received steels that are not completetly sealed near the opening areas of the steelbook? I just ordered three copies of Battleship TW and all three have the same issue. Should i email JS or is this normal?

I think that the steelbook manufacturing is too high right now and needs to be scaled back. Its obvious with the latest Play exclusives. Paint chips galore. Somone needs to have a talk with them.

i ordered 3 steels from amazon.ca, and all 3 arrived damaged.
the packaging was poor (just a cardboard envelope) and all 3 ended up with numerous dings and squishes.
worse than that though, one had some deep scratches, which clearly didnt happen in transit.
on the plus side, i have had a reply regarding 2 of them from amazon (and awaiting a third email) and i dont have to return the damaged steels. its still a pain though.
ive been spoilt with play.coms prices and packaging this year.

Had trouble with CA recently too, but their customer service is so damn good, it won't stop me ordering from them again.

And like you, I assume the damage didn't happen in transit, that card they use is pretty decent.
