Hi All,

It looks like our former thread has become unavailable, so I am posting a new one. Feel free to post pics and share your worst experiences with damaged Steelbooks as received from retailers. I've stickied this one for now.

Thanks,
DB

You are still worthy, as the situation is "Unintentional"

I just got my copy of Final destination 5 (UK) today. I just sat down to watch it, and my 20 pound cat Bebe decided to watch with me after he jumped onto the coffee table. Well I was enjoying the movie (believe it or not) and decided to call Bebe over to me on the couch. He obliged. Thats when I noticed he had been sitting on my new steelbook case. Well, now I have a one of a kind de-bossed copy of Final Destination 5, The center is totally caved in courtesy of Bebe. Well I guess I learned not to leave them laying around anymore.

Anybody else have any cases of temporary stupidity? If so tell it here..your secret is safe with us.:emb:

Mine is intentional, trying to flush back then a DVD steelbook exclusive :hilarious:

I had Machete out on the floor to take a picture for this very site, I realised that the camera had no CF card. No problem I thought, I stood up to reach it on my desk and I ended up with a pancaked Machete.
We cornish have a saying 'Pasty Feet!'
My stupid mistake, but lucky for me, I'm a naughty boy and sent it back damaged to HMV and they were nice enough to replace it with a new one....

Almost - it needs to be FLUSHED OUT OF THERE to truly sum up that movie. I lost hours of my life to it - what a sucker I am for so-called superhero movies. :hilarious:

Earlier in the thread I posted pics of my badly damaged Eastern Promises, the replacement arrived last week and guess what?

It’s worse :(

ouch that is in really bad shape! did they send in a bubble mailer? if they did i dont no why they are doing it they used to send in cardboard packaging.

makes me angry why change the packaging to worse!!

Got an absolutely crushed Fast Five and to top it all off there were no discs inside EEK! from Amazon.de which they replaced happily at no charge. Received a badly dented Cloverfield from Amazon.de which they happily replaced. So no quarrels there.

Ordered Thor from HMV.com UK and received it dented the first time. Sent it back for replacement. Received second copy... arrived dented again. Sent it back and this one is lost in space so unless they get it back they won't send replacement. Hassle to deal with customer service and they make you pay for return shipping and then refund the amount after. This by the way is what happened with my sisters copy. My own copy was luckily ok. So as it currently stands she's out of a copy of Thor and her money.

Last bad experience is with inetvideo.com. Got a rusted to hell (yes rust!) copy of Sherlock Holmes iron pack with glue dried up underneath the cardboard so bad that it peels the paint right off the iron pack when you try to remove it. Heard numerous other horror stories about inetvideo.com... I should have known better. Buyer beware as they don't package well either.

From my experience of ordering from probably 7-8 online steelbook vendors is that never order from inetvideo.com again. And only order from HMV UK when forced to (exclusives).

Im all for Amazon.com, .ca, .de, .fr, .co.uk, etc., lol... no hassles replacements.

Amzon.any country are > any other etailer.

WRT my eastern promises, it came in a cardboard mailer, inside a bubble envelope. Neither showed any signs of damage. The cardboard had no creases at all.

Axel have been really good. With the first, they sent a replacement as soon as it came back in stock. When I emailed the second time, they offer to replace or refund. I went for a refund as I’ve never had SB this damaged and I’ve got 80+. I don’t know what’s going on or where the damage is happening, but I’ll be going for a private purchase of Eastern Promises.

It's still a shame Amazon.ca doesn't package the steelbooks like:

Amazon.fr
Amazon.de
Amazon.co.uk

Do now these days.

all my amazon.ca orders arrive damage at first try, second try replacement arrive miraclely mint.

amazon.fr and amazon.de now is OCD packaging

It's still a shame Amazon.ca doesn't package the steelbooks like:

I beg to disagree on this matter. Given that I am from USA and Amazon.ca is from Canada.

I receive my steelbooks in pristine/dentless condition (By bulk or WAVE sets or by Individual)
