Hi All,

It looks like our former thread has become unavailable, so I am posting a new one. Feel free to post pics and share your worst experiences with damaged Steelbooks as received from retailers. I've stickied this one for now.

Thanks,
DB

Ohh well my Conan did not arrive how I expected. Contacted Amazon France for a replacement

Terry, I'm sorry to see your Conan arrived like that. And a bit surprised really, because of all the online suppliers I've used recently, Amazon.fr are by far the best. With each of my 2 shipments they individually wrapped each steelbook in brown paper and then sealed each in a small cardboard Amazon shipper, and then packed all of the individual Amazon shippers into one large box - which they then padded out with packing paper! Really top notch from a major supplier. Needless to say, everything arrived in pristine condition.

By contrast, Amazon.ca sent my steelbooks just rattling around loose in a thin shipper box, and one was badly dented as a result. I wish they could all learn from Amazon in France and pack them as well as they do!

I've removed the picture of the guys address Todd. We can't post something like that here.

But interesting enough, I've had dealings with Dwayne before - and the last one I did ended very badly. :(

what was the damage?

It might be that Todd meant to post this picture.

Well I opened a case with ebay. He was rather nasty in his email to me as well.

The worst thing is he has been an ebay member forever so I have a feeling I will lose the case. It is common knowledge however to send them in a box to assure safe delivery. It is his fault for being unprofessional and sending in a bubble mailer. I hope ebay decides to do the right thing.

He has to accept a return and give you a full refund upon receipt, according to e-bay rules. But they require that you send it back to him with a tracking number to prove that he gets it and we know that's not cheap internationally. :(

Did I see in another picture of yours that he sent it via USPS MEDIA MAIL? So he crossed the border and mailed it in from a US post office? :ohno:

Chip, did you pay through PayPal? If so you are covered as a buyer from them. Plus eBay owns PayPal anyway. I've had to file two claims before through PayPal and I came out ahead each time getting my money back. Just don't delete any email that you get from the guy and take plenty of pictures of the SteelBook and even the mailer it came in if you can to send to PayPal to help your case. Good Luck. I hope you get it resolved and get your money back.

You are covered, but if you made an e-bay purchase, you have to open a case with e-bay first. And if you try and do it from paypal, it'll tell you to go to e-bay.

That's the way it works now - you can't use paypal anymore.

Thanks for the tips though.

Oh wow. I guess it's changed since I filed my cases. It was forever and a day ago. EEK!

Thanks for all the encouragment guys. I sure need it. It just pisses me off to see people pull this kind of crap. Why couldn't every ebayer be like me? I can't send out a steel unless it is perfect. In fact I open the less than perfect ones for myself. Oh well.

Good luck man! This day and age with some much visibility on mint steelbooks, and this still happens. Keep us posted on this please.

Yes. He sent media mail.

Crossed the border to mail state-side? Wow, folks are getting pretty smart these days but not smart enough to not use media mail without asking the customer.
