It looks like our former thread has become unavailable, so I am posting a new one. Feel free to post pics and share your worst experiences with damaged Steelbooks as received from retailers. I've stickied this one for now.

Well let's see I received damaged copies of Touch of Evil and Super 8 FROM hmv and hmv sent me a DVD copy of Super 8 instead of the Captain AMerica steel. I also received a damaged copy of HP Year 5 sb from FS but I have a replacement on the way for that already.

Quick question about HMV, I emailed them about returning the damaged/wrong items and got two different responses with 2 different addresses to send them to. Anyone know the real returns address?

This is good to know! HMV didnt tell me this when I told them I was sent a dvd of super 8 instead of my Captain America steel. Thanks! I hate their packaging though. I am sure they get a lot of returns because of it.

I did a GB at other forum on Amazon Italy, all steels came in dented. They didn't use any bubble wraps. Now its Amazon Germany -.-

When you ordered the super 8 steelbook from hmv you get a dvd copy for free.

They sent me a DVD instead of my steelbook. Had to send it back to get it swapped for the steelbook version. Somebody half asleep in the packing dept I guess.

Sorry the pictures aren't great but I was pretty pissed off when I saw this as I opened my mailbox

I guess my mail man thought that walking another 2 feet to my front door to drop it off was too much work for him...

Also to make matters worse Amazon France failed on their packing skills. Whoever packed this obviously didn't know the difference between a steelbook and a tshirt and thought a piece of cardboard would withstand a couple of miles overseas..

@Munstarz40, that hurts just looking at it. OUCH! I'm sorry to hear/see the unfortunate condition of your ROTPOTA. I hope all goes well for your replacement though.

Does anybody know if you can request from your local USPS that all packages be delivered/left at your doorstep instead of jammed into the mailbox? I would like to request this but I don't know if the USPS take requests of that nature. I see too many pictures of unfortunate mishaps that could of been avoided only if the delivery service were a little more careful.

Get to know your mailman. Depending on your living situation, I would bet that your mailman will not mind leaving a package by your door. I have all of my steelbooks delivered to the office I work at to avoid situations like this. I never have to worry about something getting left by my door or jammed into a mail box.

I filed a complaint against my postal guy last year. A new guy took his spot and he is like 70 and walks up my step almost everyday. He's cool too. I haven't had a bum steel from the post office in a long time. Nothing pissed me off more than seeing a steelbook crammed into the mail box like that.

May, I actually got a recent order from Amazon.De and they were packed really well. One big box with individual boxes and bubble wrap for each steelbook. I was hoping I would get the same treatment from Amazon.fr but they obviously ran out of real packing material at the time of my shipment. Anyways they put in a replacement order already so now I get to wait for it all over again

Chip I think I'm going to do the same because this same postman put another shipment I had in my neighbor's box a couple of years ago.
