Hi All,

It looks like our former thread has become unavailable, so I am posting a new one. Feel free to post pics and share your worst experiences with damaged Steelbooks as received from retailers. I've stickied this one for now.

Thanks,
DB

Same here, the steelbooks I bought from Amazon.de came really nice packed with bubblewrap and all , but last week I had a problem with my dutch edition of Cowboys & Aliens.(had a dent, probably something really big was put on it)
Glad the seller was really nice and agreed to send me another copy , but I had to pay a more expensive type of postage.Anyway , everything is fine at the moment.
Oh, and watch out with bol.com , I ordered True Grit steelbook and it came in a simple card board-envelope that could have been easily damaged , so ask in the commentary at the end of the order to put some bubblewrap if you want to order from there.

I had a problem with a scratch on one of five SBs from Amazon.ca. They shipped a replacement and did not even ask for the damaged one back. Canadians have a reputation for being nice.

Sorry the pictures aren't great but I was pretty pissed off when I saw this as I opened my mailbox

I guess my mail man thought that walking another 2 feet to my front door to drop it off was too much work for him...
That's why I got an extra large mailbox. The mailman was coming down my driveway all the time. The other day the USPS told me that they don't back up their trucks anymore because of accidents. How do you like that?

Damaged Steelbooks- Whats The Worst You Have

Have you ever bought a steelbook and it has arrived to you damaged or dented, there is nothing worse.

post pics of dents and broken steels here,

share you pain

i recently recieved cloverfield German steelbook sealed, i opened it and it was completely in half EEK!

try and beat that

Got a few with minor dings
my 10,0000 bc cracked effect has a slight bend on the spine
final destination 4 has the spine label attached the wrong way up
every memento has arrived with a minor dint so gave up buying anymore

I work for the USPS :D. Getting to know your mailman IS the best option, but if you don't have the time to do that then just leave a small note on the inside of your mailbox stating nicely to "Please leave ALL packages on porch/doorstep/backyard" wherever you would like them left. And make sure the note is visible.

Note to new members - searching the thread title is the best way to try and find possible matches.

I've merged the new thread to here. Thanks.

I've received damage items from anywhere , with customers no problem because they replay , more times from italian ebayers with poor packing , sometimes from international ebayers don't use padded + bubble

got Scott Pilgrim UK damaged. well, belongs to my friend who actually ordered it & got a replacement. i bought the damaged one, and we split the cost. cheaper than the amaray, so i took it :D

Or tell the mailman to treat all your packages as fragile. And then tip them a gift card at end of year. It does wonders. :naughty:

I bought No Country For Old Men from Futureshop - in the store I looked it over very carefully and couldn't find any signs of damage. Took it home and it turns out the shrink wrap was the only thing holding it together. When I unwrapped it, it fell apart in my hands. I've bought a few previously viewed that have some dents or scratches, but as long as the spine is good and it doesn't look like it survived a gunfight, I'm good.

My Ratatouille steel came dented today, was wondering if there was a way to hit it back into shape? Just put it under hot water and push?

Maybe I'm very lucky, but to date I have not received a damaged steelbook from any retailer or private sale :)

Just had Crank from Germany turn up. The person sent it in a normal freaking envelope, no packing nothing. The envelope was ripped in a few places, but when I open it, not a scratch or ding. But the disk is loose and rattling around. Bought this on eBay,never again.
