It looks like our former thread has become unavailable, so I am posting a new one. Feel free to post pics and share your worst experiences with damaged Steelbooks as received from retailers. I've stickied this one for now.

Oh then it´s Dhobi Ghat. I hope for you that it is ok. That packaging looks dangerous from the pic.

The plastic wraps are used by the shipping companies above the package. Almost all shipping companies use this..

I've come across this a few times with regular Amarays - Blu-ray and DVD and it is unfortunate because most places, after you open watchable media it cannot be returned. Sorry to hear about that. You might get lucky and if you go in and explain this they might accept a return. I've never dealt with a return with HMV before so it might be possible.

The thing is ... it was all sealed i wasn't going to stand at the till and open the package up ... they better give me a refund or a exchange or all hell will break loose in hmv tomorrow lol

That's actually not too bad, Drum, I usually see some old ones and it looks like someone stepped on them and scratched it across the floor and they are still at regular price! ;-)

an update to mine ... Hmv were great didn't even question it , they said it happens pretty often ( oh my ) just did a exchange for a steelbookof scarface

My Dhobi Ghat arrived today super packaging in bubble wrap enclosed with hard card contents are mint but the box set itself is not the best to say the least . I think it was like this when they sent it out as it could not have happened with all the protection? The plasic is really brittle and a flick could snap it

mine arrived this morning EXACTLY like that.
the other plastic was cracked and bent.
at least the steelbook is dent free...
i really shouldn't have bothered with the gift pack.

and yes, the packaging was good so it was sent originally with the damage.

Was going to email them but to be honest I do not think it will be worth retuning as the replacement would probably be the same.

I do not think, you have ordered from BollyRetails.

@ terry44 - There is most which can be done, for the Gift pack. As you said, the PVC packing is really brittle, and develops crack.
We have taken up the grievances with the company, but you guys know better, there won't be any substantial development.
We take proper care while packaging, but the nature of the material forces it to develop cracks, even when it is good initially.
I sincerely hope, people understand this situation.

Oh well it could be worse like my super 8 which arrived today with a footprint thru the packaging......and yes thru the steelbook

Good thing with HMV they will replace it straight away. Also will watch the movie and keep the new one sealed

My first copy that I came to dents
