Hi All,

It looks like our former thread has become unavailable, so I am posting a new one. Feel free to post pics and share your worst experiences with damaged Steelbooks as received from retailers. I've stickied this one for now.

Thanks,
DB

 Wow, that looks well and truly trashed! Looks like someone has driven over it. Several times.

On a much mure subtle note, I've noticed that a couple of my steelbooks have one or two tiny little paint blemishes in the corners (still brand new & sealed), very difficult to see, only find them if you are doing some serious OCD inspecting..

Anyway my question is is this normal for steelbooks to have such minor imperfections? And just how imperfect would a steelbook have to be (that is bought in 'mint' condition) for you to justify sending it back?

personally i can live with minor imperfections but some people cant, most steels have imperfections , some people notice them and some dont, the thing i hate is dents no matter how tiny , but dont mind paint chips, its really down to the person:D

Wow! This has scared me straight! Posters and Steelbooks are the worst thing that can be sent through the mail. Luckily, I will only group buy with the professionals here at HDN! After seeing these horror stories my Amazon list we stay wishes!

Vote with your money people - don't order from Amazon.ca - simple. I no longer do after many damaged steels.

They're not listening to anyone's complaints and suggestions regarding packing, and as thus, do not deserve our money. Most of the titles they offer can be had from alternative sources and our very helpful Ninja legends on this forum.

I have had good experiences with amazon.ca. A steel arrived from them recently with some dings. I brought this to their attention. They replied within 24 hours and said that they would send a replacement. The replacement arrived super quick (in about 3 to 4 days) and it was in perfect condition. They also said that I could keep the original dinged steel. Great service!

P.S. I don't work for nor is connected to Amazon in any way.

To be honest you got lucky because I went through the same process and my replacement was actually more banged up then the original shipment. So it's 50-50 whether or not the replacement will be in good condition.

Its strange ive ordered about 10 steels from Amazon.ca and none of them have ever been damaged and have all been delivered by courier and took 2 days. Guess im getting lucky for once. On a unlucky note i was showing my mate my *** Blade Runner the other day and i dropped it and put a nice dent in the top haha i still cant beleive i did it.

Couldn't you choose another SB for that "drop-test" EEK!

Really sorry to see that dent... But i think better you dropped it then your friend (you would not call him friend anymore i guess ;) )

Well, I ordered 10 steelbooks from amazon.ca on Tues eve in the UK. They arrived today(sat) using the expedited shipping option. SIX of the ten I ordered are damaged! They were sent loose in a box which had a small peice of that air filled plastic that covered just one side. So frustrating. :angry:EEK! I have emailed them and sent them packaging feedback. Whats everyone elses experience in these situatations...will they want me to send the damaged ones back, will they send the replacements with better packaging, and will they pay my second customs bill I get which isn't my fault?
It's a shame as they have some lovely steels!

Well you can't faul the customer services at amazon.ca , just had a email reply about my damaged steelbook , sending a replacement , keep the original and refunded my CC with complete order price for two steelbooks :)

I ordered IAL steel book from Amazon.ca which came dented to hell in a jiffy bag this week. How do i go about complaining to them? Do i request a refund or just send an email somewhere, i could do without having to ship it back!

No you can't fault their customer service and I've told them this aswell, however they've lost my custom until they sort their packaging.

That's pretty poor mate, although I think most people on here who order from them are about 50% damaged/mint - it's a lottery. In my experience they won't want them sending back - but make it clear when you complain that you don't want the hassle of sending them back. The replacements will be in the same packaging(unfortunately). I don't think they will pay the customs bill.

I just received my first damaged steel from Amazon.de, WOW!!!! Their customer service is nothing like our retailers. They sent out a replacement for my whole order of 4 steels. I sent them back an email stating the only one needing to be replaced was Metropia. They just told me to send them back and they will credit the postage paid to my CC. AWESOME!!!

I'm having a really bad string of packages from amazon.es. Received another package today and one of the steels has a loose disc. That's 3 out of the last 4 packages from them that came with loose discs.
