Hi All,

It looks like our former thread has become unavailable, so I am posting a new one. Feel free to post pics and share your worst experiences with damaged Steelbooks as received from retailers. I've stickied this one for now.

Thanks,
DB

It's not a blu ray but I had to have it, avp Xbox steelbook - cool artwork ruined by a massive dent from an amazon marketplace seller- it was sent to me in a paper envelope! That's all! Worse packaging I've ever seen in my life! Not at home ATM otherwise I'd post a pick...needless to say I'll need to pick this one up again...

Not exactly sure if anyone else has received steels that are not completetly sealed near the opening areas of the steelbook? I just ordered three copies of Battleship TW and all three have the same issue. Should i email JS or is this normal?

I say if that is all that is wrong, count yourself lucky. I've had a few with shrink problems, but with all the slashed spines, dents, paint chips etc.. I live with shrink tears or splits.

Btw, this thread is depressing. :(

Amazon.ca has been consistently bad. I already got a few shipments all the steelbooks dented. They just stack them on top of each other and leave them loose in the box.

But my worst experience was HMV. Paid GBP26 for Touch of Evil steelbook and it came in a bubble envelope! The steelbook was flattened almost like pancake!
Got a replacement and the same happened.

Returned both for refund (customer service response was slow). Decided to save my GBP26 and never order from HMV again.

Just got a package from Amazon.it and it's honestly the worst I've ever received. It seems to have sustained water damage, cardboard's all 'crumply' and peeling. Even the address label has faded and somebody had to rewrite my delivery address with a pen.

No surprise that the steelbook inside has a dent on the bottom, like something pressed down hard on it. Hoping they respond to my email soon. Included feedback on how a cardboard mailer is totally insufficient to protect steelbooks from being damaged.

Yeah, ama.it suck for packaging. Fortunately all mine have come damage free, not sure how.

As for Ama.ca, honestly don't think I have received a single steelbook from them this year that didn't have a dent or scratch. Pretty sure they leave the warehouse like that. They do have super customer service though.

Lately I receive almost all my steelbooks with small paint chips, it has been frustrating....

Some of them are very small, do you guys always return your steelbooks with small paint chips?

It is making me so mad, wait for the steelbook to arrive and when it does it has a paint chip that just ruins everything.

I'm starting out think that it is almost impossible to get a steelbook without those hideous paint chips, it doesn't matter where the steelbook come from ( taiwan, UK, Germany... Etc.. ) or the packaging... I think they just get those paint chips when they stock them or when they make them..

Welcome to my world lol. I'm sick of it myself. Always seen to get some kind of piant chip or dodgy paint defect (like dribbles on glossy areas for example).

I think it has to do with the sheer volume of steelbooks being put out currently. Quality control is going down the toilet unfortunately.

When I've purchased steels in past years they've been flawless. It's only in the past 12 months or so I'm having these problems.

I know same thing here, is being happening lately..... now it seems almost impossible to get a mint copy.

Which I think is retarded, If Im buying from a store brand new sealed they are supposed to be mint.

What do you do? Do you return them?

The problem is that I just received form JSDVD 2 steelbooks with paint chips and I dont know how it is going to work out. Shipping there is expensive and I dont want to pay extra money for something that it is not my fault....

Not exactly damaged but thought this is the most appropriate thread. My copy of Equilibrium arrived today from amazon.ca and I was trying to take the j card off and they was so much glue spread over the back that the j card ripped and half of it is still stuck on the back. Anyone got an suggestions for getting it off? Would it be ok to soak it with a sponge or something? Pic is below

I am done with Target. Cancelled my order again. company states they wont chage until item is ready to ship but constantly placing holds on my acct as if to suggest that item will not be paid for.... Why not take the moneys if you want it that bad....just quit messing with my acct....:angry::angry:

It baffles me why members here keep ordering steelbooks thru BB.com. If you can't optain a copy in store than maybe order 3 in that way your guaranteed a box. Just return the 2 copies back to the store nearest you. But that option doesn't always work since I ordered 5 ASM's and had to return 3 cause of corner damage. Obviously the safe way would be to ask a member here to get you a mint copy and ship it to you. Just sayin...

Received my JAWS copy from Amazon UK. Slashed spine

I noticed on my last two US steelbooks (TDKR & Total Recall), that something is up with the spine, or at least I think it's the spine. When I close the steelbook, it doesn't snap shut properly. For example, when the steelbooks are closed and I press together on the top spine side of the steelbook (front/back cover together), the bottom spine side of the steelbook (front/back cover) slightly opens. Also, when I'm holding the closed steelbook, it feels like the front cover is moving slightly off the spine, when I move it.

I opened the steelbook to inspect the spine to see if it's separated from the front or back cover, and it's not. There is no other visible damage on the steelbook, especially where the covers are attached to the spine. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

My soon to be ex wife did this

she broke into my closet and destroyed over 140 of my steelbooks. I could have k................... her
