Quite easily one of the most captivating 2.75 hrs I have seen. Opened my steel and watched this. Stunning movie IMO.

Ditto.

Not sure, but will search again in the morning since this is past midnight central time and possibly they are doing some background system work. I just searched for Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds, Saw Trilogy, Kill Bill, etc with similar type of content and they are all still available on the site. Something is up with Django Unchained from Target so hold on to your copies as this one might become quite a collectible if it is indeed recalled or stopped by Target.

Even if the movie were pulled right this very instant, I wouldn't go so far as to say that would make it a better collectible. Almost every copy Target had is most likely in the consumers' hands by now.

A run of 3000 where a company pulls 2000 during sales? Collectible.

A run of 20,000+ where the company pulls it after selling 19,000? Not so much.

All hypothetical obviously. I don't see why this would be recalled.

Sorry White Rat, I had equated a steelbook as a collectible compared to an amaray. I was merely following the categorization as laid out here:

Hidef Ninja Forums -> Blu-ray & Movie Collectibles -> Blu-ray Steelbooks

I hope this did not confuse members into thinking I was saying this could become a "holy grail" steelbook. Far from it.

Looks like Target.com has taken down every Django Unchained release - DVD, amaray Blu-ray and steelbook. Anyone heard any news about Target doing this?

Even the link for the steelbook in my order reverts back to the home page. This could be big news if Target is forced to pull all copies of Django Unchained.

I tried to return the two I bought online in store on Wednesday since they refused to price adjust. I was told the item was discontinued and could only exchange for another item in electronics.

That's strange. I was able to return some damaged copies on Wednesday from my online order.

So weird that they discontinued Django completely.

Got into Nashville today around 5PM, saw a Target next to my hotel, stopped in around 6 and saw this and found several copies with small paint chips:

Ok maybe people here are not up on steelbooks, I thought. Well, went out to dinner and then headed back to the same Target store to chat with the store manager and boom! No more copies were left - all sold out in a mere 75 minutes! I would have taken another picture but left my phone in the car in my haste. He said every Target exclusive sells like hot cakes in his store especially steelbooks and he hopes Target gets more movie titles in steelbook as his customers favor them over amarays. The US market is primed for steelbooks as evident by the upcoming WB wave and the appetite for this title :scat:

That might solve the mystery of sudden disappearing.

I returned my online bought copies yesterday morning with no problems. I hope none of you will run into problems with returns.

I was not able to return mine. My local Target only offered an exchange from the same department after scanning the receipt and Steelbook. The associate even showed me the screen and explained to me it was a discontinued item. It was kind of weird to me.

There wasn't anything else I wanted in electronics to do the exchange, so I took them back. I might try another Target next week. The two I got from Target.com had a different UPC code from the ones in store, so I'm not sure if that had something to do with it.

I'm really disappointed with Target. They wouldn't price adjust and now I can't return for a credit on my card. Hope I don't get stuck with these.

ya its odd how your target discontinued them and wont price adjust. there still a few at both locations in pasadena and rings up in their system because i did an exchange right now for one i bought on tuesday that had a paint chipped i just noticed. if you need help securing a copy or anything, let me know

Iron Man 2 was 50000 copies and that is pretty collectible. The run on Django is probably closer to 50k too.

Makes no sense unless you didn't have a receipt.

Um. I don't know if you had a rookie at the service desk, but you were well within the return period with receipt. They should have allowed the return no questions asked. (well, they usually ask if there was something wrong with the item)

Of course the item is discontinued, as they won't be printing anymore. The UPC's are different, that is correct, but the instore item #'s are the same as the regular amaray. The online Item #'s are different.

Doesn't make any sense to me.

totally agree. I watched it this morning. Got to keep my steel's sealed tho, as I got it from the library.

I did purchase 2 but some other member begged me to let him have it at cost so I obliged. I opened mine. Gotta open these beauties. FS version will get here some day so that will be sealed.

... would you rather have a best buy exclusive that is sold out instantly like zero dark thirty or this where you can walk into the store and actually find copies.
If I had to choose, a release like Zero Dark Thirty. Quality always trumps quantity in my book! Of course, I don't see why we can't have both; better quality Steelbooks, with plenty of copies to go around.

I just got my target.com order and notices that it is slightly different from the copy I got in store. It is missing the ultraviolet and target sticker and also has a sticker UPC with a slightly different UPC from the in store copy and it does not say made in Mexico on the back. Must have been from a different run for target.com.

How many stores still have this? I've heard that many big Target stores are sold out and a friend of mine got the last one in his store. Anyone know if the 'recall' happened?
