Per Firstshowing:
Earlier this month we heard Lethal Weapon writer and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang director Shane Black was in contention to helm Iron Man 3, the next installment in the lucrative comic book sequel. While his directing the project was far from a sure thing at the time, apparently Marvel likes what Black is bringing to the table and Deadline reports the filmmaker is currently in final negotiations to direct the blockbuster sequel. Though initially it was said that Black would also write the script, apparently the details remains to be confirmed. But considering how well Black worked with Robert Downey Jr. in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, I have high hopes.

Of course, there's a bit of a concern since the only film in Black's filmography is the aforementioned dark noir comedy, but Jon Favreau hadn't directed any action tentpoles either before taking on Iron Man. There's still no news on when Iron Man 3 may start production, and a release date isn't being set prematurely either, so it's unclear how soon Black will begin working for Marvel. Right now he's working on Doc Savage for Sony and he was recently linked to an American adaptation of the Japanese manga series Death Note. Even with those projects in line, this will undoubtedly be Black's biggest project to date.

Plus IM 3 is the start of Phase 2 of the avengers Project. Then comes CA 2 and then Thor 2 and other Marvel Films that'll lead up to Avenger 2

Interesting. Judging by the first official set photo posted above, Tony gets the Mark II armour back. This can only mean 1 of 2 things:

1. The US government gave it back to him in good faith, and he's supplied them with a copy of either the Mark III or Mark IV armour, as an upgrade.
2. The US government reverse-engineered the Mark II armour and Tony had to forcefully get his technology back, similar to what happens in the first Armor Wars story.

On second thought, is that really the Mark II armour there? It looks like a hologram, or a cardboard cut-out, with just the outline of the armour. I can't tell. Will look for a higher resolution picture and / or a better angle of the same scene.

I don't get it.The Mkii was turned into War machine for the second movie, but rody said he was going to give it back at a later time,so did he take everything off of it?and if so how would war machine be able to return in this movie.

That's why I think some reverse-engineering went on. And who's going to be jockeying the Super Patriot armour?

Even more interesting; I'd love to see the design they've come up for Firepower. He was a pivotal character in the Armor Wars and, to my mind, the only tech-villain at the time to really push Tony Stark to the edge. If you can, get your hands on Invincible Iron Man #230, from the first series. Click here for a link to the cover of that issue.

The don't waste any time with these do they? Seems like they just release then ring ton top of each other, if they fail...no big deal reboot....

I read on /film that Marvel is denying that Iron Patriot will be in the movie. Then what the hell are the pictures above showing?

Also, there's some pictures of the AIM. ;) So can we hope to see M.O.D.O.K. in IM3 or IM4?

They claim it may be War Machine... yeah... right...

That's actor James Badge Dale ("The Departed," TV's "24") as Eric Savin, one of the villains of "Iron Man 3." In the comics, Savin is a soldier who is gravely injured in a land mine explosion and reanimated as a cyborg called Coldblood-7. It looks like the movie merges his character from the books with the Iron Patriot armor (which was worn by Spider-Man's nemesis Norman Osborn, aka the Green Goblin).

You can spot in the photo that Dale only wears the armored suit from the waist up. He wears motion capture sensors on his legs, which will be used to create computer-

Nothing really fancy, but Marvel's Phase II is on it's way! :scat:
