Release date of October 25th, 2011.

Thanks to Fan_of_Gaming from the BD Forums.

According to a Futureshop empoloyee who is quite credible, There will be a Futureshop exclusive for the Jurassic Park Trilogy.

Guess this makes up for the other copy getting canceled. Can't wait for this one! Will try and update more when more news comes out.

I've cut my importing way down because of the DHL global problems that I had, so after I think about it - this is also easier for me since I can have a trusted trader pick up the Future Shop version and not be worried about problems (or the fact that I might not get it in the mail for some reason).

I'm just happy that there are 3 alternatives for everyone - if you don't want the wooden box or the tin, there is a third choice, however polarizing it might be.

Stores opened on a little while ago. Let's give it some time (maybe until tomorrow).

I'm sure a member here will be good enough to post a picture or two.

EDIT: Of course, I just checked the Future Shop web site and they state October 25th as the current release date. That's backed up by the same date on Amazon.ca and Amazon.com.

Assuming, of course that it's not a Canada wide release. We've yet to hear officially if it truly is a Future Shop exclusive.

nope! Bad Times, because they are releasing G1 instead of G2 and new releases like Captain America, X-Men, Thor, etc are not even released as steelbook. I hope they consider the suggestions of NA collectors...

As much as I love the older movies being released as Canadian steelbook it would even be better if there are new titles /newer movies getting a nice steelbook treatment on their bluray debut.

Hi all-aside from our threads, Futureshop also has its own forum which is monitored, where you can also choose to comment regarding their own releases. Futureshop has always worked hard with studios to convince them that collectors 'prefer' G2, and for the most part, studios have listened. However, it is up to the studio, not the retailer, to choose size, and finishes (sticker vs. printed etc). We always share feedback with the appropriate parties,via feedback threads in our forums, etc. However, if you have specific feedback for a 'retailer', in regards to what they are releasing, you can share your comments there, too

I wonder how much percentage of sales are associated with the collectors. They should do some kind of survey and come up with results to see the proportion of collectors vs "regular people". It's all about the money in the end, if the stats show that most of them are purchased by collectors or at least that collectors bring in the more money, the studios will listen.

The problem with JP was the # of discs it is set to have. Wouldnt fit inside a G2.

Gotcha, but you have to admit, Canada has it much better than the US. We consistently sit the bench on releases. My suggestion is to import. Do it, do it.

I think having a G1 would be cheaper for the release studio so I see not doing that. And to make more money by not letting you pick and choose your favorites but to give them their big nut on a complete set. It's all ever about money...
