Can we get a sticky for this? :D

What do ya'll prefer to drink? Beer, Wine, Hard Liquor, Wine Coolers? All of them?

I only drink Beer and Hard Liquor. Mint Mojito is about the only thing close to a wine cooler I'll drink though LOL

Depends on how hot it is up there in Milwuakee today.... Sam Smiths oatmeal stout is delicious, and I havent had one of those in a while. But if it's like 85 or 90 degrees then forget that!

Never had that riverwest one, but I have had stella and it's just ok for me so I guess the riverwest would be my second.

im actually up at my parents lakehouse in northern wisconsin. gonna go jump in the lake here in a bit!

im putting the beer on hold for awhile, my mom made me a bloody mary and i couldnt say no could i? :D she makes them VERY well, lots of spices and mixed with lots of fixin's: pickles, olives, beans, etc. LOVE it! :scat:

The beer fest I went to here in Richmond last month didn't have most of that stuff. I doubt that I'll go back to the one here in Richmond unless they have a major overhaul. Yours looks pretty fancy though, I have to say that I'm a little jealous as well!

I yanked my fruit punch cider out of primary and kegged it.. meanwhile figured I'd give it a sample... it was an acid bomb. So much tart and acid because it is so dry literally pierced my tongue.. instant pucker bomb!

I took about 3/8 cup of turbinado sugar and dissolved it into a cup of water and added it to a 1.375 liter bottle and filled the rest of the space with the cider and that made it taste more like fruit punch wine with a kick.

I took the bottle to band practice and while people liked it they remarked more about how it tasted like wine than beer so I'm guessing some carbonation and back sweetening will help change things around.. Next time I'll just use a f*cking scottish ale yeast and watch people freak out.

Meanwhile: I stay jealous of you splax. I hate KS when it comes to getting ahold of good beers.

Well today is the day. Summer Beer Fest!!!!!. I went to bed early and got up at 7am. So im ready. I think the weather is gonna be bad but what can you do. Im still excited. after i get drunk nothing will matter anymore!!

You guys are spoiled in VA. I found some really good local beers while I was out there. My personal fav was "The Love" by Starr Hill. It's a wheat beer that has a little bit of a sweet finish.

Starr Hill makes a decent brew. You were lucky to get the Love, most places around here only carry the Jomo lager and maybe one other choice. I typically don't reach for any Starr Hill's though since they were started in Charlottesville, which is where Virginia Tech's in-state nemesis (UVa) dwells :violent:

Had a decent beer haul yesterday. My beer guy was getting rid of all his Oak Arrogant Bastard for 9.99 a sixer (regular 17.99). Also got some Stone 14th anniversary Emperial IPA. and lastly i picked up some beer from a new brewery right by my house. An IPA and Pale ale that comes in 16oz cans!!!! lol im not a fan of beer in cans but i figured it was worth a try.

I got to try the Jomo, it was ok. One of my friends picked up a 12 pack sampler that had The Love, Jomo, and two others that I can't remember. I also tried a few from Victory (Golden Monkey was one) and some Magic Hat. The AAFES PX on Ft. Lee had a good selection of local stuff, including a lot of The Love.

A few of us also stopped into Triumph Brewery in Philly. In the pic I took with Tony, he was drinking their Coffee and Cream Stout, which was good, but I was drinking their Russian Imperial. Their RI was amazing! It had the dark flavor and consistancy of a stout, but had cognac overtones. Absolutely loved it!

I'm 20 minutes into Beer Wars, and I'm loving it. They've already talked to the guys at Sam Adams, Dogfish Head, and Founders!

yeah it is a good movie. This is one im looking forward to.

I'm making an oktoberfest this weekend! I've never made a lager before, I'm going to attempt to use a swamp cooler since I don't have room for a carboy in my fridge. Worst case scenario, I'll just get some extra esters in there and it will be a moktoberfest.

I'm making a starter for the first time here as well.... thinking about making the starter thurs afternoon and brewing on sat.
