Can we get a sticky for this? :D

What do ya'll prefer to drink? Beer, Wine, Hard Liquor, Wine Coolers? All of them?

I only drink Beer and Hard Liquor. Mint Mojito is about the only thing close to a wine cooler I'll drink though LOL

I would suggest beers with wholesome ingredients and no added sugars.. when dextrose is added to beer it thins the body and ups the alcohol.. I'd stay away from beers that are high octane in this regard and shoot for beers geared more for flavors... If the ingredients listed include sugar, move on. Budweiser adds tons of corn sugar to their beer to get the alcohol, the rest is rice solids and a small amount of actual malt (that's why it's piss yellow). Yes, Miller also does this... F their stupid triple hop crap.. it's still mostly rice solids and dextrose. BLECK.

To be honest I'm not sure where to direct you commercially.

Hefeweizen's might be a good start, or witbier.. They have a lot of yeast left in suspension as part of the style. Hoegaarden is a decent light witbier with a good citrus tinge to it (lemony/orange). When you pour it stop at 2/3's down and swirl up all the stuff on the bottom of the bottle and pour it all into the glass.. that'll get you all the yeasty goodness, and a good bit of flavor you wouldn't get if you drank it from the bottle. Light on alcohol and pretty refreshing.

I could suggest taking it one bottle at a time, but that would sound silly, and make sure you have eaten a good meal before you start.

I'm confused why Patron wouldn't upset your stomach but beer makes you sick... other than drinking crummy beer too much, too fast.

Ahhh beer!

"This is grain, which any fool can eat, but for which the Lord intended a more divine means of consumption. Let us give praise to our maker and glory to his bounty by learning about... BEER." - Friar Tuck

Well Alpha good news look what i got ya!

Im kind of jealous now. this is the 09 batch and the only bottle I could find. Last year it was the 12oz bottle and it was brewed at Stone. This year you get the bigger bottle and it was brewed at Nogne in Norway. Next year in good ol Michigan at Jolly Pumpkin.

Its ok i got myself a present too!!!!

Founders Backwoods Bastard (Bourbon Barrel Aged Scotch Ale) simply amazing. And a tasty bottle of 09 Bourbon County Stout from Goose Island. Both are going in the cellar to age for a few years though. I also have some 08 Bourbon County in the cellar.

I didnt go to my normal beer store so i didnt get any Stone for you. I think i can get you any of the following.

Arrogant Bastard
Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale
08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale (Belgian IPA)
09.09.09 Vertical Epic Ale (Belgian Strong Dark Ale)
13th Anniversary Ale (American Strong Ale)
Russian Imperial Stout
Ruination IPA
Smoked Porter
Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale

Let me know what you would like.

or if you want any local MI stuff there is some good stuff out there.

Giggity giggity gig-a-tee!!! That's awesome!

We might as well make it extra good... I'll take the following if it's feasible for you:

Arrogant Bastard
Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale
09.09.09 Vertical Epic Ale (Belgian Strong Dark Ale)
Smoked Porter
Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale

Those Bell's Hopslams were rockin, and the Founder's Breakfast Stout freaking rocked my socks, but I understand that's not very easy to get ahold of.

I'm doin a lil dance in my pants :boobies:

yeah i still have 6 bottles of Kentucky Breakfast Stout in the Cellar. The new batch comes out in March. Hopslam is an easy one to get if you want some. I can get you a 6 pack or send you a bottle if you want.

the stone stuff will probably be no more that $10 each accepted oak aged arrogant thats like 3 a bottle if they still have singles. they are usually anywhere from $7-10. i might even call tomorrow for prices. if you wanna paypal me some money ill get them together and ship them early next week. or late next week if you want some Hopslam.

they are mostly big bottles so i gotta figure out how to package them. Im thinking bubble wrap and peanuts. let me know

PM me with how much you need, I'll give my henchmen the briefcase and they'll rendezvous with your paypal account. Definitely would like some hopslam.

From what I've read, wrapping each bottle in bubble wrap, then taping them all together, then surrounding that with packing peanuts has worked.

Only other issue is shipping the bottles while it's below 25 degrees overnight. LOL it's like the opposite issue of shipping bottles during summer... If the bottles get below 25 degrees they'll freeze and become time bombs. I don't see a night where we hit above 25 overnight temps until January 9th, so we got some time

i hope they lower the price of hopslam this year. last year it was 17.99 a 6 pack, i think because of the hops shortage. Last year i got a case for my bday hopefully i get another one :). as soon as i find some info ill PM you

I'm gonna get hammered tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I made it to 3AM-ish

Boy did I get hammered... we had a beer garden with about 10 different kinds of beer along with 10 gallons of homebrew on tap... funny enough my pale ale ended up being the primary target for everyone to drink on so I tried to kill as much of the beer garden as I could... you all would have been proud, I held up like a champ till I drank a lion stout around 3 am or so and got the swirly feeling so I ate a giant plate of nachos ..

I knew it was a giant plate of nachos because in the sink the next morning was the largest plate we have in the house covered in cheese bits and chip dust and some salsa remnants and no cheese, chips, or salsa left in the house
:hilarious:

And we had shrimp cocktail which neither the wife or I ate any of because someone got the munchies and ate all the shrimp, tail and all - I'm wondering if they had the runs when they woke up? Good times!

09.09.09 Vertical Epic Ale ($7.99 a bottle)
Smoked Porter (not sure anywhere between 4.99 and 7.99 a bottle)
Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale (2 for $14 or probably 7.99 a bottle)

I just picked up my first 6 pack of hopslam of the year!!! Amazing as always! also picked up some Founders Double Trouble! Even found some bottles of 06 and 07 bigfoot that i put in my beer cellar.

They just got in some Stone Double Bastard for 7.99 a bottle. I can get you some stuff founders if you want?

Let me know if you are still interested in everything.

I was wondering if any of you beer experts have had a bottle of this: Westmalle Trappist Ale Dubbel

My wife got it for me for christmas, and its been my first real experience with some high end beers other than a chimay or two here and there.

I thought it was pretty good, but it took a glass to get use to it. Some hints of fruit that made it taste pretty sweet.

Westmalle is good, I'm a huge fan of Rochefort though.. their 10 cap (blue cap) is just delightful.

Believe it or not I happened to stumble across a bottle of that holiday ale for 9.99 a bottle. I guess it's because it didn't come from Stone the distribution was better.

I'll do 2 Arrogant Bastard ales, if you can get 1 smoked porter for ~4.99 then coolbeans otherwise no biggy, and the epic ale

I'm tempted to snag up some bell's hopslam and some founders but the gas bill came today and I about threw up my testicles. :emb:

I am definitely snatching up as much of this as i can. I have been waiting for months now for its release. it'll be the first time anyone has tried it and it sounds amazing. Its gonna be extremely limited but luckily i have a few beer stores that treat me well. Hopefully Founders can make another world class beer. here is the description:

The 2009 release of Nemesis is best described as a Maple Bourbon barrel aged wheat wine holding 12.% abv and 70 ibu's. The barrels have been resting deep in the mines of Grand Rapids for nearly 9 months and have been most effective in developing a great product.

The Bourbon barrels we used in this creation were once used to age Maple syrup from northern Michigan, then emptied, and procured for our use in ageing this beer. The combination of American oak, Kentucky Bourbon, Michigan Maple syrup and our golden/tan wheat ale has provided a delicious malty sweet ale distinctive of strong vanilla and bourbon notes

I'm going to probably try to learn/start up the home brew process sometime this year. :scat: I've got some housework to get done first, and then I'll have a room downstairs that would be perfect for the storage. I've seen a lot of good ideas on here, and I've got a guy in my unit that's a big home brew fan. I would expect to see a steady flow of stouts rolling out of my house once I start.

Other than that, I'm a big fan of Crown (Regular, Select, XR, #16). I've got a bottle and a half of the Select at home right now.
