Can we get a sticky for this? :D

What do ya'll prefer to drink? Beer, Wine, Hard Liquor, Wine Coolers? All of them?

I only drink Beer and Hard Liquor. Mint Mojito is about the only thing close to a wine cooler I'll drink though LOL

Mmmm, that sounds wonderful alpha. I've used orange peel and coriander before, but it was for a belgian, not a pale. I bet its still pretty good though! I've used the american ale several times too, it smells spicy at first but it will finish pretty clean. Dry yeasts used to get a bad rep, but I've started using US-05 for my pales and IPA's and that stuff is incredible, plus its 1/3 the price of liquid yeast! No starter needed either, plus it compacts well and the finish is nice and clean. Hard to beat that!

I'll let you know, this is pretty much a scaled down version of my doublewide orange apa.. I had to scrape my tongue after 2 or 3 of those things it was so damn hoppy.

I hear a lot of people use the US-05.. for some reason I just have an aversion to dry yeasts but given the repeated recommendations to try it I'll have to pickup a few packs and give it a whirl. I've used the American Ale before but not the American Ale II, from what I gather it has all the qualities of the first but has better ester qualities which I'm crossing my fingers will accent the orange/coriander mix.

I wasn't originally going to use coriander but when I measured out my sweet orange peel and took a whiff I couldn't help but think coriander to see if I could bring that orange flavor to the front. In the cooking world I believe this is filed under, "BAM, I'M KICKING IT UP A NOTCH!"

You've got me craving a beer at 8:25 in the morning!

I've only got two bottles I want to store and age at the moment, the KBS and the Nemesis. I was really shocked to see Nemesis sitting back in the Founders area. They've got three 4-packs left after I picked up mine. Do they always put a label on the bottle that's different than the box? I was a little surprised when I looked at the bottle label (blue) and then the box (tan like Splax's old avatar pic). Looking forward to trying it. :scat:

I drank a bottle last night, good but needs some age. I have about 7 bottles of 10 and 4 of 09 left. Nemesis is gonna be different every year. Last year was the first year and it was a Maple Bourbon Barrel Aged Wheatwine. This years batch was a Black Barleywine. The tan packaging was the color of the bottle last year and I think it is gonna stay that color every year.

And Alpha I think this weekend I am gonna drink both the Westy 12 and 8. I was hoping to get someone to drink it with me but no one is commiting so i might have to drink them myself. No complaints about that one haha.

Go a local BA tasting this saturday as well which I am expecting people to bring a lot of tasty beers.

Have fun! Diva and I are doing a Mug Crawl this weekend, so instead of several good craft beers, we'll be visiting 8 or 9 bars with a 33oz stein which will be filled with cheap domestic beer. Doubt we'll feel very good Sunday morning. Should be fun though.

Worst thing about drinking. Thats why i do not enjoy getting drunk but sometimes it just happens. I am pretty sure I will be intoxicated tho on saturday. Probably about 20 different beers to try. I was at a Goose Island beer tasting this past Friday and got destroyed.

Got to try Goose Island Minx, which is a Belgian IPA and it was delicious. There were only four 1/6 barrels in the entire state of michigan, so i was fortunate enough to be able to try it. Also had a Bourbon County Stout float with gurnssey coffee ice cream. After that they allowed me to have mulitple glasses of Bourbon County stout which is up there at 13% abv. so that did it. Then woke up at 6am on saturday for work lol.

A beer float? That sounds very strange, but OMG I want to try it!

Something tells me Splax likes stouts. :hilarious: I really want to try some of the Bourbon County.

Horhay, let me know if you can't find any. The place I go has some and I'd be willing to trade some KBS for something good out your way. :scat:

That goes for anyone else willing/wanting to trade as well, provided there are no regulations prohibiting this. We've got a few good local breweries out here other than AB. I'm a big fan of several of the beers Schlafly puts out and O'Fallon has some good stuff too.

Boulevard is all over the place here. Got something in mind? Schlafly makes a good oak cask aged oatmeal stout.

I actually just got a bottle of Schafly Pumpkin Ale in a recent trade. Still have to drink it. As for Boulevard, I am looking for BBQ, Sixth Glass, Saison-Brett, Rye-on-Rye, Tank 7 Farmhouse, Harvest Dance, imperial stout. Thats about it haha.
