I know its not the main event, but I'm most excited for the Silva vs. Bisping fight. I actually like a couple of the others over the heavyweight brawl as well, but that Silva fight should be a good one. I'd like to see him get a win.

I'd like to see Silva take the win as well. I hoping too much, but I bet that James Te Huna will not be televised. I want Cain to beat Nog ;)

Why watch the fight at home when you can watch it in the theater?! right...

From an announcement posted this morning on UFC.com:

For the first time in UFC® history, UFC fans can head to their local movie theater and take in all the action in the Octagon™, live and broadcast in high definition on the big screen starting with UFC 111: St-Pierre vs. Hardy on Saturday, March 27...

Dana White, UFC President, today announced the UFC has closed a deal with NCM Fathom to present a series of live UFC fights in more than 300 select movie theaters nationwide, as well as plans to have UFC fighters host screenings in various markets. Tickets are available to this special in-theater event at www.FathomEvents.com and presenting theater box offices. For a complete list of theater locations and prices, please visit the web site (theaters and participants are subject to change).

“This is an opportunity to provide our fans with another cool way to watch UFC programming on the big-screen, live, in high-def and in surround sound,” said White. “UFC 111 has a stacked undercard and St-Pierre vs. Hardy and Mir vs. Carwin are both title fights, so this is the perfect event to kick off our new deal with NCM Fathom.”
Our first question, obviously, is "How much is this **** gonna cost us?" The answer, sadly, is "Even more than we spent to see Avatar in IMAX, which was totally worth it, but still." A quick search for tickets in my area shows that the UFC 111 movie theater experience will set me back $25 per ticket plus service charges. As GalsGuidetoMMA puts it, "I mean, you're probably not going to go by yourself, right? So for two people you're looking at over $50. Why the hell wouldn't you just get the PPV?"

This = truth. If I'm giving up legroom, and trays of homemade hot wings, and the freedom to drink as much beer as I want, and the right to not have strangers shouting in my ear, then I want the experience to cost significantly less than it normally would. Is the audience going to be packed with lonely people who can't find friends to watch the fights with and who don't live near any sports bars? I have no problem with Zuffa trying to maximize profits, but after the WEC PPV pricing announcement, I wonder if they're leaving money on the table by establishing price points that make absolutely no sense. Your thoughts?

Cagepotato

for $25 a seat I'd rather just spend my own cash to watch it at home

The long-rumored UFC 114 headlining matchup between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Rashad Evans is a go, according to updates posted last night on the fighters' Twitter pages. It will be the first fight in over 14 months for Rampage, who went AWOL following his decision victory over Keith Jardine last March in order to film The A-Team. (UFC 114 goes down just two weeks before the film's release date. That's called "synergy," brah.) Evans most recently won a decision over Thiago Silva in January

We're confident that Jackson and Evans can re-build the heat of this matchup back up to TUF 10 levels. But Rampage fans may have reason to worry. According to a recent mailbag column by Yahoo!'s Kevin Iole: "[Jackson] isn’t close to being in shape now, though his Muay Thai coach, Dave Jackson, insists he’s already working hard. But I saw him in Australia and he looked plenty plump to me. I was also surprised to see him smoking a cigarette."

Well, if it can happen to Gerard Butler, it can happen to anyone. Let's hope Rampage spends these next three months wisely. UFC 114's tentative lineup is after the jump...

MAIN CARD
Quinton Jackson vs. Rashad Evans
Forrest Griffin vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
Diego Sanchez vs. John Hathaway
Amir Sadollah vs. Dong Hyun Kim
Aaron Simpson vs. Chris Leben

PRELIMINARY CARD
Efrain Escudero vs. Dan Lauzon
Melvin Guillard vs. Thiago Tavares
Cyrille Diabate vs. Luiz Cane
Todd Duffee vs. Mike Russow
Ryan Jensen vs. Jesse Forbes

So May 29th Rashad and Rampage will finally fight. I can't wait! :scat:

Alistair Overeem Has No Problems Kicking a Little Girl

289bn6u.gif

There's really nothing that needs to be said about this. It's just Alistair Overeem doing what Alistair Overeem does, which is show no mercy to nobody. He doesn't care whether you're an overly trusting little blonde girl or some hapless tomato can scrounged up by a promoter trying to give him an easy payday or one of five nightclub bouncers. He will jack you up and then he will laugh about it. That's just how he do. The sooner you accept that and move on, the better off you'll be.

Man this guys' sarcasm just has me rolling :hilarious:

Also, Rachel Leah might coming back as a guest ring girl for UFC 111

Strikeforce's May 15th event in St. Louis — which is slated to feature the heavyweight clashes between Alistair Overeem vs. Brett Rogers and Andrei Arlovski vs. Antonio Silva — picked up two more notable matchups this week. First off, BJJ prodigy Roger Gracie (2-0) is set to face off against explosive UFC/PRIDE veteran Kevin Randleman (17-14).

Gracie's grappling credentials include eight titles at the Mundials and sweeps of the 98kg and Absolute divisions at the 2005 ADCCs; his last MMA fight was two years ago, when he choked out Yuki Kondo at Sengoku 2. Randleman has suffered decision losses in his last two bouts against Mike Whitehead and Stanislav Nedkov, and has dropped nine of his last 12.

Meanwhile in the lightweight division, fast-rising prospect Lyle "Fancy Pants" Beerbohm (13-0, 12 wins by stoppage) will get his next test against former top 10 lightweight Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro. After a long period of injury-related inactivity, Ribeiro returned to MMA competition last year in DREAM, defeating Katsuhiko Nagata by TKO, but then losing a decision to Shinya Aoki. Beerbohm's last two Strikeforce appearances saw him choke out Duane "Bang" Ludwig and score a doctor's-stoppage TKO over Rafaello Oliveira.

Speaking of Strikeforce, their middleweight champ Jake Shields may not be sticking around after his next fight. As he told Graciemag:

When you talk about guys like Anderson Silva and St.-Pierre, the best in the world, obviously I fight want to fight them. I want to be the best in the world and to be the best you have to beat the best...Now I’m focused on Dan Henderson for this fight and after that my contract with Strikeforce ends. I’ll talk with Strikeforce and the UFC to find out which one I will work for.

Even if Shields gets smashed by Hendo, he would still have a great deal of value to the UFC as a welterweight contender. And if he beats Henderson? There aren't any more legitimate middleweight challenges in Strikeforce, and Jake's homeboy Nick Diaz holds the welterweight belt, so moving back down isn't an option. You can't blame the guy for wanting to move on.

Their card is looking half way decent now. Jake shields signing with the UFC would be awesome! I'd like to see him vs Anderson Silva :scat:

Bellator has called a video press conference for Monday at 3 PM EST that streams live from Bellator.com. This press conference is expected to be when they announce the signing of former UFC lightweight “El Matador” Roger Huerta (20-3-1).

MMA Junkie is reporting that Huerta received his formal release from the UFC this week and is now finalizing the deal with Bellator and MMA Gospel Radios’s guest this past week, Bjorn Rebney. Bjorn is Bellator’s CEO and gave us one of the best interviews we have ever done.

Signing Roger Huerta is another big step for the small promotion making huge waves in mixed martial arts (MMA) news week in and week out. This would make Huerta the seventh lightweight added to the second season of Bellaor which kicks off April 8 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The season will run for twelve weeks and will air live on Fox Sports Net on Thursday nights. A highlight episode will air on NBC and Telemundo on the weekend. The second season focuses on tournaments in the featherweight, lightweight, welterweight and middleweight classes with the winners getting a shot to face the season one tournament champions.

This could be very big for Huerta as the winner of each division wins $100,000 over three fights in three months. If he wins the eight-man tournament he then gets a shot at current Bellator champion and Fighters.com third-ranked lightweight Eddie Alvarez (17-2).

When MMA Gospel Radio talked with Bjorn about Alavrez he was obviously excited to have what I consider one of the most under-rated fighters in all of MMA as his lightweight champion and spokesperson. Eddie was in one of the best fights I have ever witnessed when he faced fourth-ranked “Hell Boy” Joachim Hansen (18-8) at Dream 3 in the lightweight Grand Prix Quarter Finals. He won that fight via split-decision and the thought of him facing Roger Huerta is one to relish.

Time will tell what the future holds for Huerta and for Bellator but I am sure all MMA fans are excited to for the imdeiate future for both fighter and promotion.

Fighters.com

Sucks to see him go.

According to Cagepotato, the UFC has begun to send emails promoting Evans vs Rampage. So here's video and if it doesn't pump you up I am not sure what will lol
