I'm asking you to be open minded and tolerant to those who did have to pay more than you to get one copy of this steelbook. Not everyone was as fortunate as you, so please be open minded and tolerant of that.

Where those who spent $500+ to get one , they are fortunate to afford it - its just that it would be cool to show to their face that there are more fortunate folks (like me) who can get away and spend the same value and to get more.

I have nothing against your opinion , to each has its own interpretation.

But I'm wondering more on the feeling of those who spent $300 to $500+ to get a copy of it? and how would they feel to see another person who spent the same value and got copies of it.

I don't understand the feeling of joy you get from knowing someone overspent on a Steelbook. Just because you were able to get a good deal on something doesn't mean you should rub it in someone else's face.

Xage-your reasons for collecting or purchasing are your business, as has already been said. The reason I chose to ask you, not join in any accusations, is because collectors come in all shades of gray, and as a staff member at this site, I'd rather we hear from the person themselves, instead of assuming.

From my experience as a moderator, staff and collector in media communities, for several years, there is generally nothing positive that comes posting pictures of a 'stack' of relatively rare/harder to obtain items.

Most people understand 'demand and supply', the 'speculation' that is part of this whole game, and the 'opportunism' that occurs when these types of items suddenly become available (even after some people got 'ripped' by paying $500, because they had no idea if it was sold out, at first, or didn't know if they'd surface at a cheaper price, and didn't want to miss it, all together). I was trying to avoid a back and forth, by encouraging you 'not' to post your pics, LOL.

Sorry, but we'd rather not incite arguments on purpose-and as many members, especially from outside of the US, will have to take to Ebay to find a copy, eventually, I can guarantee, no one wants to hear about 1 member's 'stockpile' at the 'regular' price, LOL:)

Honestly, I was trying to save you a bunch of negative comments that may have come from the 'brag' post. If the thread gets out of hand, we will edit as needed to avoid an unnecessary brawl, where people get...well....sucker punch'd.

Thanks all!
DB

It's nice to have a moderator in here unlike some other forums. Thanks DB.

EEK! you read my mind - actually thats the bottomline footnote once I posted an image (best explains the title of the movie and the steelbook)

I am a collector but Im one of those collector who wouldnt spend as high (even if I can afford it) on a sought after collectible. Im more of invalidating the "demand" type of collector and can show proof that I can find certain loopholes and show up front to those who I think "feeling knowledgable" , "greedy seller" and "drooling cant wait, impatient one" about the beauty and uglyness with media packaging collection.

If someone bought 1 or 50 copies,it makes no difference to me.since you just end up wasting your valuable time trying to convince people what the moral thing to do.there's no use stressing over matters you can't really control.but,if a lot was selling ferraris for 25k's a pop,you better believe I'm buying ten of these babies lol

I think we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

As my eloquent colleagues already mentioned - keep this civil guys - or we'll be deleting more stuff.

Thank you.

If a collector buys as many as he likes no problem but it is indeed hard to see a stack of rare steelbooks when someone didn't even had a chance to get one. Thanks to the forum and some collectors sharing their information I'm sure a lot of members are very happy they can have this special piece.

What bothers me is the fact that someone can afford to buy 10 of them and he gets them shipped securely in big box but a collector who can get only one or two will get them in bubble mailer with 50/50 chance of receiving them dented...

Its just my opinion, hope this is still ok to say.

this is just a guess but it seems pretty clear Xage thought their was money to be made by purchasing 15 steelbooks.

if he has $400 to waste right now to wait a year or two to make money off these then so be it.

I know of a member here , and a couple at that ... who did spend quite a bit to obtain there copies. I dont think its cool to show off anything in that way. This forum gave out 3 copies for free before they ever showed up on wbshop.com ; So we are obviously a community that is "FOR" the collectors. I could have kept them for myself and sold them on ebay at $400 a pop at that time. I also sold many others to members at very cheap prices. I dont care if people make money off it, to each their own but just know you are in a place that is drama free, and will remain that way.

Wanna show it off, cool. Wanna show it off to "stick" it to those who paid high ... not cool.

I'm friends with those who paid high, and I have a common respect for all collectors no matter how much they pay, or little they pay or how they collect. Be it 1 copy, 10 or 100. Some people buy a lot to sell so they can afford to buy other steels. Everyone has their own way of surviving in this expensive addictive hobby. I always say, dont let it beat you ... BEAT IT!

+1 Couldn't have said it any better myself.

the someone(s) still have chance to get one:

Wbshop Sucker Punch SDCC Steelbook link

but not the $23 value which happens the very first day it was advertised.

To answer your post, its a general rule for ecommerce e-tailers to ship content in a box if its a huge bulk. Much as consumers want theirs to be shipped in secured box, its a different story when an order arrives to the "warehouse & shipping" department of an ecommerce e-tailers

I agree. I'm just glad I got one copy at a reasonable price, and in good condition. And the only way I even got one was thanks you everyone on this forum giving the heads-up on the re-stock at wbshop.

I understand that there are collectors out there who are into purchasing multiple copies, but I don't understand it unless it is for rarity, trading, or helping out other collectors.
If someone wants to spend their hard earned money on multiple copies, it's their business, and more power to them. Odds are that in a few years, steelbooks really won't be worth anything anyway. Especially when blu-ray becomes an obsolete format. Everyone knows that all types of collector products have their time and shelf life.
But no matter what you reason is, as long as you enjoy the collecting, have fun.

Well said Wreck - the ethos you've outlined is what sets this forum apart from many others we could mention and I hope we can keep it that way. It's also one of the reasons I (finally!) signed up as a Ninja - for what it's worth thanks and know that the majority here really appreciate all you and the other mods, etc do :)

now slightly OT, but is this the most viewed/posted on thread here now (and does that get a special prize!;)) - I'm of course excluding regular threads like latest steelbook purchased :)
