Amazon prime have added duck tales - treasure of the lost lamp, that's a proper classic, don't know why it is not on there list, and I wouldn't mind seeing that in a steelbook at some point:happy: Only downsound to the movie was the start when I had to watch the Disney intro instead of the duck tales intro(woo hoo). That's just wrong:D

Hi Guys,

Feel like I have been living under a rock and first discovered Disney steelbooks today and I'm sooooo excited!

So first question is do I actually replace all by Disney DVDs? And if so where do I actually start?

Any tips are very much welcome

Thanks

The ones that you can actually get. Most are sold out. They differ from their American counterparts in that most of the UK ones have 5.1 sound instead of 7.1. But on the plus side, the UK one's have both the 3D and 2D version something which the USA don't have. They are an excellent collection to have and I am so glad I bite from day one. I wouldn't want to be trying to get them all now especially at some of the prices being asked on ebay. But good luck in your quest..... Some are still available on Zavvi but a lot are ebay only.

Yes I was bidding earlier on eBay for the little mermaid and that sold for £11.00 which wasn't to bad. What about the pre orders that have sold out are cancellations common? Do I have to contact zavvi about purchasing steelbooks that the order has been cancelled??

Sorry so many questions!

That would be unlikely to happen
There is no Blu-ray release of this its only available on DVD and its a DisneyToon Studios release
Amazon USA have a HD version with Amazon Instant Video its upscaled DVD Video to HD stream to rent or purchase to watch online its not a Blu ray
I have not seen any plans for a Blu ray release in UK or even in USA
Any release that happens will be only what's available from Disney UK Catalogue and must be available on Blu ray or a future planned Blu ray release

What usually happens is that Zavvi will send you a email (only if you a customer) of titles that are suddenly available again. Usually they are snapped up pretty quick. So you have to keep your eye out on the post.

To be fair only a small amount are sold out. For instance, frozen, Aladdin, jungle book (you can that cheap I imagine), little mermaid and wreck it Ralph are sold out so they would have to be eBay jobs or maybe Amazon or play.

19 titles from the collection are still avaliable (although a lot of people won't have planes in their collection like myself - maybe if it was a £5!).
Tangled is released today so any cancellations or payment problems might go back on sale this week or next.
Out of the pre orders Snow White, Tarzan (don't show up under disney collection on zavvi site so either go through the link on here or type it in zavvi search) and sleeping beauty are still avaliable to pre order.
Lion king and beauty and beast are the only 2 pre orders that are sold out but similar thing may happen just before or after release with cancellations and payment problems but along with tangled there might not be many left as these were 3 of the main favourites/wants on here out of the last to be announced for now.

So if my math is correct its only 5 you would need to get elsewhere (Aladdin, jungle book, mermaid, wreck it Ralph & frozen) with another possible 3 (tangled, lion king and beauty and beast) so 8 all together but like I said the last 3 mentioned might come back in stock.

Also you might see the others that are avaliable cheaper elsewhere to zavvi and discount codes do pop up from time to time making them cheaper.

Keep checking threads on here (get email notifications) for tangled, lion king and beauty and beast aswell as the price drop/back in stock thread for updates for them going back on sale.
Good luck @Charlotte Turner

@Charlotte Turner Also, if you're looking to dive in spending a grip of money. People on eBay frequently have lots of these limited editions that include anywhere from 4 to 10 of the Steelbooks in one auction. They turn out to be great bargains that work out to around $18 each. People just try to unload doubles they may have bought.

Furthermore, if cash isn't an issue - you may want to look into editions offered by the Steelbook specialist companies from Asia - Blufans and KimchiDVD. They have the nicest versions that come with all kinds of goodies. I warn you that it's financially dangerous to get addicted to their collections. Lol

But if you're feeling lucky, head over to the Giveaway and Contests Forum. There are great giveaways by generous members who often put up Disney Steelbooks. @Naughtius Maximus always has great Disney Steelbooks in his giveaways. You'd only have to pay shipping.

Anyway, good luck and happy collecting.
