A gravity fed spray gun

Then I used some accelerator and clear coat which I use when I spray cars also added is a slight but if thinners I think it's 2 to 1

The steels are wiped over with cleaners I get rid of grime and oil that fingers can lea e and any oils

Then I spray it in a booth which is heated and has ventilation AND IS HEATED KNOWN AS AN OVEN
Basically it what I use to spray car bits

Then spray and leave them to harden at least a day and this will be hard enough to polish to

Well this will be my try out Steel :D if i get my glossing spray delivered till tomorrow. I will post pics despite if it was successful or not :hilarious:

We want to see the Pics ANYWAYS :D

I lay it open flat and spray the edges first and then both panels/spine.

Use the high grade sand paper and use a new sponge as a rubbing block and the water is to help it basically soo your just taking off the peaks
This will dull the lacquer and the cutting compound rubbed in brings back the shine and I use any car polish

Thanks you two. Tonight I'll take out the disc, lay it flat and spray the edges, then use sand paper. I was confused about rubbing block because it's called something different here (sanding block). Do you just wrap the sand paper around the sponge? Does the water go on the sand paper? And you just rub the polish on the area you sanded? Sorry for the many questions, I've never done anything like this before :emb:

Make sure it's high value grade sandpaper over here 80 is something you would do rough wood then if fine sanding wood 240 now the stuff I use 1500 so it feels like paper as in barely sand and the water I have no idea just works better with water as it will leave scratches otherwise but yeah I wrap the sponge (I use a small one that does dishes ( ) and just glide it over the lacquer this way it only takes the peaks off until it's the same height as the dips so it will look flat
Just read that back and sound complicated more than it is

Thanks. Just to be clear - you dip the paper in water? And what do you do with the polish?

I use a water spray can thing but as long as it's not dry should be fine

Apparently you wet the steel then do the sanding. About to give it a go.

Just made it exponentially worse :( First I tried sanding when it was dry using a fine sanding sponge, forgetting the water. Even with the water and a different piece of sand paper (600, not on a sponge), it just made the orange peel stand out more. Now my black steel has dirty white areas all over it with dark craters. I also ended up stripping the paint on the edges. Maybe I should've used a new, clean piece of sandpaper? Maybe I'm not rubbing hard enough. It looks like a disaster, but since there's still orange peel maybe that's a sign it can be saved if I keep rubbing? Of course the bare metal edges will still be ruined.

I tried spraying another steel in the meantime. It doesn't look AS bad but still has lots of orange peel and the paint is uneven all over  How are you guys getting such a perfect smooth finish without visible layers???

Maybe you guys can do a video tutorial? I hate to keep ruining more steels because I'm obviously doing it wrong.

Wow tough luck Mi Amigo :( Try not to spray too close to the steel. When spraying be about 5 to 6 inches away from the steel. Also don't do slow coats, cause that'll cause the gloss to build up in certain areas. Spray almost like a misting coat and do it fast, not slow. With Practice you'll become a pro :D

Great Job Mi amigo!! All 3 look awesome!! I was actually thinking of Glossing Dredd, turned out great:) On Batman Begins it sure makes a difference. G.I.Joe 2 has some great colors :scat:

Next up Dredd, Lockout, Pain & Gain, Pacific Rim.........Blade Trilogy:scat:

Thanks. I definitely was doing slow coats. I had trouble with the edges too. I laid it open and flat and started on the edges first, but I don't know how to avoid getting some of it on the front and back.

Any advice on sanding? I ended up making mine worse.

I would love to see someone make a video tutorial someday.
