Here us a slight guide to the way I glossed mine ok here's what I used

A gravity fed spray gun
yvavu2y8.jpg

Then I used some accelerator and clear coat which I use when I spray cars also added is a slight but if thinners I think it's 2 to 1
apy7e8ar.jpg

The steels are wiped over with cleaners I get rid of grime and oil that fingers can lea e and any oils
desuse2y.jpg

Then I spray it in a booth which is heated and has ventilation AND IS HEATED KNOWN AS AN OVEN
Basically it what I use to spray car bits
apuhypa3.jpg

Then spray and leave them to harden at least a day and this will be hard enough to polish to

OH I FORGOTTO ADD A PICTURE OF THE HARDENER AND THE FACT I GET ALL KITTED UP LIKE WALTER WHITE FROM BREAKING BAD ....

WELL A BREATHING MASK AND OVERALLS AS THIS STUFF ISNT GOOD FOR BREATHING IN A CONFINED SPACE

Edited for trading

Well my results aren't that good :( i think my microfiber was not that good quality cause i got little goose bumps all over the steel (i tried it first on Zombieland DE 2nd Print) Thats the reason why i haven't tried IM3 DE since it would probably have come out the same.

So i tried to rub the coat off with the pre-cleaner on the backside, while it whas still wet and made it look like before and made another try but now its really rough like highgrade sandpaper :hilarious: didn't try a second coat yet but I made i second coat for the front which is also thicker and the gloss effect really good (If you ignore the bumps :hilarious: :hilarious::hilarious:)

So is there anything i could to better to avoid such bumps ? I noticed them after finishing spraying so its most probably not dust out of the air or ?

So yeah the first try didn't came out as good as hoped :hilarious: i will give it another try on IM3 but i think i need something different than this microfiber.

That's the stuff I use 1500 then the steel when flatted should turn dull
u9ujuzy6.jpg
then with some elbow grease use cutting compound a really smooth one you should end up with an ok finish

Yes, that's what mine looks like! White-ish. Thanks, glad to know it's supposed to look like that.

How do you attach the sponge to the sandpaper?

How do you apply the polish?

Use wrap it around you don't need pressure while sanding and the polish a sift cloth but I'm not sure if polish woodwork straight off its cutting compound ill see if I can get a pic

Nope i just used the a normal spraycan and let it dry so maybe i need to get the room even more dusk free, hmmm how about this, we got an oven that only gets warm without airflow so this would prevent dusk getting blown on it right ?

*THANKS for taking a look at my work! As ALWAYS, MANY THANKS to howiesteed and Ocielz for the motivation and the advice on glossing steelbooks!!!

Big difference on 300 right? And it looks like you're getting better at this:scat:

HUUUUGE DIFFERENCE!!! Although out of that whole Warner Bros. wave, 300 was one of the nicest. But yeah, CRAZY how much different it is. And thanks man, I do seem to be getting down my own technique. Had a few mishaps on Django, but got most of them fixed.

I do want to go back and try the paint on stuff I had bought. I think that stuff will look ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. Plus, I have a secret project I'm working on (will post pics here in a week or so when I'm done) that I need the paint on lacquer for, because I don't think the spray will work for it. But I'm going to try both and see what happens.

I've given it a go after months of wanting to. No doubt the gloss itself bringsout the images but my can if plasticoat left it somewhat textured...

Before and after.

Yeah you can feel them, but even with the dots IM3 looks a lot better IMO, somebody mentioned they heat their steels up before they start would this make a difference ?
