I had to bite the bullet and order it from an eBay seller. Ended up paying 65$, now jsdvd has it for sale? So much for exclusives. On the the other hand, a perfect opportunity for those who missed out.

Yes the cover may be the same but I believe only the play version to have embossing and debossing.

Wreck confirmed this to have a premium effect put in place by play, and said not likely others will have. And one example recently is jaws fella all versions aren't embossed but les dents del la mer is in France.

Well I hope you right bud.

btw a bit off-topic, has the UK Jaws been confirmed to no debossing/debosing too just like other countires or would be a surprise and come out just like the French one embossed? ;)

which steelbook did multiple countries have the extact same artwork but differed in terms of embossing effect?

i think they will be the exact same steelbook

Are you questioning the great Wreck? :hilarious: I think if he says it's gonna be different from the others coming out we can trust that info.

Chronicle UK had debossing/embossing and none others had, X-Men First Class FR had debossing/embossing and the UK one didn't, Jaws FR has debossing/embossing and no others have and there are others that have either different inside art or back art.

I'm fairly new to steelbook collecting so there's probably more that I don't know about too.

I don't think you can argue "Les Dents" & "Jaws" because right from the get go the steel differs in title. Same thing goes for "First Class." The pic of the Korean version looks exactly the same as the play version, no variation. Now if Jaws UK is embossed or debossed while Jaws Sweden isn't, than that's an argument you could begin to make.

You could look at it that way but my main point is that releases may differ in inside art, back art and/or debossing/embossing. Or even with the Thor steelbook in DE it was released with a helmet.
I'm just trying to point out that the art, finish or extras could differ from one country to the next.

But you're right it's not that common and perhaps especially when it comes to embossing/debossing.

But I'm fairly new to this game so maybe I'm wrong on all accounts here. :p

Just received Total Film through the door where they've "reviewed" the blu ray (I say "reviewed" as there's no mention of audio/ video quality).
Makes a reference to extras though:

...although the extras, which include seven deleted scenes, trailers and two Making Of featurettes (unavailable pre-press) look to have been imported in from an earlier DVD edition

I'm not saying that's definitive, but it's all the magazine refers to.

THE DISC WILL NOT INCLUDE THE ORIGINAL MONO RECORDING!!!!!

It will feature the new transfer and the revised sound effects from the year 2000 because the producers think they "fit better"

Source: bluray-disc German forum.

I will not be purchasing this botched garbage. If any of you have even the slightest respect for older movies, then you should all cancel the play.com and other orders. The studios must be taught a lesson with our wallets.

The 5.1 mix is missing tons of the score, the gun effects have ALL been changed, etc.

Please do not support this release.

Why oh why does this happen time and time again?

I'm sick of botched releases, there is no excuse not to include the original audio as an 'OPTION'. Fine if they prefer the remix, make it the default track but rule no.1 is to preserve and make available the original.

Fingers crossed the US version will have the mono. Although having said that, why should we be forced to buy 2 copies just to get a complete version on disc?

And yet they wonder about piracy and losing sales......

Sorry for the rant guys.

I really dislike when they change the audio around in new editions of movies...it really takes away the nostalgic feel and cheapens the experience for me...not happy about this at all...
