Got a custom BD of this with thanks to Bigrob with the remastered picture but with the Mono PCM track from the laserdisc.

Just need to get a 2 disc tray insert now to swap out so I can add the disc

Agreed this one got my vote for steelbook of the year award i know raid is the deboss boss but for sheer beauty in artwork this is the one !

Its ironic, the best ironpaks, metal cases and steelbooks are usually the ones that feature some type of iron, metal or steel robot. Iron Man, Transformers, Real Steel and of course The Terminator's are amongst the most awesome and of course most valuable.

Wow that sounds really cool. Do folks create mash-ups of releases like this very often (from things like the laserdisc or whatever)?

I have a question. I have the older amaray of this movie. Is this one the same pic and audio quality or is it better? Trying to figure out if I should open it or not.

I didn't have the older version (this is my first copy), but I do believe that the disc was remastered.

Maybe you should wait a little and keep that one sealed as the same remastered version is due for a US release next month.

I can't justiy having thousands of steelbooks in the house and then going out and buying the amaray to watch the movie. :hilarious:

I think that would be a sign I have a problem. :hilarious:

There are some REALLY talented folk out there who like to preserve original film elements from older formats that tend to get ignored on the Blu-ray / DVD format. This has always been a hobby of mine since my Laserdisc days

I've got a custom Bluray of Jurassic Park but instead of the DTS-MA 7.1 audio it has a DTS-MA 5.1 track mastered directly from the DTS CD's used for the theatrical showings back in 1993. Haven't compared it yet but feedback is that it's more dynamic and more robust audio

Another good one is a BD of Alien (720p though) containing a PCM 2.0 audio track of the 70mm audio mix from the THX laserdisc (a tad different from the audio mixed contained on the other versions of Alien.) Pumping the PCM 2.0 audio through my amp and using DTS NEO to matrix the audio into 6.1, it's deffo more dynamic with a bit more oompfh that was lacking from the DTS-MA audio on the BD.
