Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

1/19/2013 Member Nyvo tweeted Zaavi about packaging concerns. They said they may be looking into alternate packaging methods.

just got 4 replys to my enquiries, 2 offering a 15% refund (i will accept one of them because it's for just a paint chip on my "alice in wonderland steelbook),

and 2 full refund offers.

At least not using the tin foam sheet

So far all the cardboard mailers using the bubble wrap my steelbooks have been in perfect condition

I suppose it will depend on your location as to the risks of damage happening
But so far I had no damage happen

For International USA etc and European countries were distance is a factor it might be better if they offer a choice of packaging

For me so far the bubble wrap is working for my location and postal service in Rep of Ireland

I can't understand for one minute why Zavvi have not upgraded their packaging since the V for Vendette balls up.
They have the ****** A1 mailers from the same company as Amazon get their boxes from which are P1 mailers.
Is it really that hard for Zavvi to get in touch with their box suppliers and ask to be sent the P1 boxes in future instead of the A1 crap :angry:

It's not as if they have got to swap companys or anything they already have an account with them ..... problem solved as them P1 that amazon use are solid.

Zavvi's boxes and Amazons boxes are all supplied by LIL packaging but these muppets wouldn't understand that the solution is that easy surely !!!

Yes, it can!

For no obvious reason they had problems collecting the money from PayPal for my Pinocchio order. I've checked it, it works 100%! Sent them a message to try it again.

CS's answer: Sorry, we're unable to do that. Please cancel and re-order.

When opening the order history there's an "add alternate payment method" button. So I added my credit card and asked to charge it, since item was sold out so re-ordering was no option.

CS's answer: Sorry, we're unable to do that. Once you've chosen a payment method you have to stick to it. We are not able to change it. Please cancel and re-order.

Meanwhile Pinocchio was back in stock so I gave up arguing. I must be with stupid!

Looking forward to my next issue with them. Got today a copy of Alice in Wonderland with two clearly visible dents at the upper edge. I will ask for replacement, but it seems to be sold out. However, at the eBay outlet store there are more than 10 copies available and I'll send them the link. But I'm pretty sure they'll find a reason why this doesn't work.
 
Update: Bubble wrap is either in short supply or has been scrapped. Two steelbooks arrived today in the thin foam sheets or as a member on here calls it "bog roll".

Luckily there doesn't appear to be any noticeable dents or anything on the outside.

And so to the Continuing Saga on my Die Hard 4.0. Steel . . .

Thay are now pretending that I actually sent pictures and are offering me a 20% refund. No apologies over the standard of packaging or offer of a replacement.

I told them Replacement needed as current Steel was unusable, and returns authorization req asap.

I'll let you all know what happens next children . . . .

p.s. Hercules Steel arrived with a small spot dent on the front - here we go again . . .
 
Seems simple to me - if Zavvi can't afford to use the boxes then at least give us a chance to upgrade our packaging at check out - extra 50p ? Can't be that much for a box.

zavvi was very generous with me lately...

after i received 3 dented steels this week, and sent enquiry emails for refund,
i got 2 replies with FULL refund immediately, and for the 3rd i got the FULL
refund accepted after one e-mail. i can keep all 3 damaged steels. :thumbs:

uncomplicated CS this time!

And having now three damaged steelbooks for free in your collection makes you happy? I'd rather pay full price and have three steelbooks in mint condition.

"maniac cop" is not soo good looking as expected, and i can live with the dents. it was a double-dip anyway, my slipcover version looks much better, and i gave up being OCD with steelbooks, as 95% have minor flaws anyway (hardly any steel i own is 100% perfect).

as for "alice in wonderland", i also ordered two copies (just for this case if 1 arrives damaged) and my second copy is fine apart from a paint chip,

so yes, i'm happy.
 
I actually have inform them that I am boycotting them 100% until they change their packaging. I am aware working for a multinational company that they only info that matters is $$$... so I informed them that until they change their shipping way, that I am not buying from them anymore. I canceller 3 captain america TWS and 2 Maleficent. It might now mean much on a small scale but if others follow it might make them listen. I am sure I will find another country that I love for malefixent and of course captain america no difficult to find a substitute !

I have a question, I have sent a claim for a copy of Toy Story that came damaged. I was offered the 15% refund but I instead asked for a replacement or a refund. They answered by telling me that there was no more stock to send me a replacement and that they were willing to refund me if I shipped the steel back to them (I'm in the US) and that they would cover the shipping cost but only up to 15% of the product's price. I got this copy in one of the sales for 14.49 GBP, so they will only give me around 2.17 GBP for shipping but the shipping itself is around 10 GBP. As you can see, I would end up getting around 6.66 GBP back from Zavvi after shipping.

Can I still ask for a full refund and ask to keep my damaged copy? Or is it too late for that?
