I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

So the likes of Amazon won't order extra copies to meet demand from customers taking their buisness away from Zavvi? As for smaller demand many steelbooks which have limited runs i.e. 4000 sell out, yet from these boards and no doubt other sites or even those that don't use sites like this miss out so sure it is possible Zavvi will lose X customers but there might be X customers willing to replace them.

Maybe it's just a coincidence, but the ultra limited print run of The Pianist is still available. Usually they are sold out within hours. The first sign of customers losing confidence in Zavvi's shipping policy? ;)

No, i wouldn't say so. There are still a lot of ultra limited steelbooks which haven't sold out in a few hours. Its due to the title itself, the pianist is not a movie that appeals to everyone, although in my opinion it is a great movie. Just because a steelbook doesn't sell out in a few hours doesn't mean that customers are loosing confidence.

I'm sure customers are loosing confidence however until there is viable company who can rival zavvi, they have almost no incentive to up their game unless their sales fall drastically.

But that all depends on where the damage occurs, if the damage occurs at Zavvi or after then that's Zavvi's problem not the suppliers.

Regardless of where the damage occurred or there was any damage, retailers send back returns to the supplier for full credit.

After all the recent failures from Zavvi: Poor Packaging, excessive copies with spine slashes, poor customer service on so many levels I won't bother listing them, I have chucked 8 of 10 pre-orders back. The only 2 I have kept are Army of Darkness, so that I can complete my trilogy, and Indiana Jones (I can't remember which one) which was ordered for a member as they couldn't be online when it went live.

I'm through with Zavvi.

I got one them imports off them," Lords of Salem", it arrived in a cardboard mailer, completely smashed up.
They offered me a 10% discount.
Errrr no thanks. Now for back and forth messages, until i get a full refund

Got 3 from them today all in brown mailers with bog roll wrapped around. Jesus man im really struggling to think why zavvi have made this the new packaging,ok its to save money but in the long run they will get even more returns then normal? Whoever made this decision is not very bright

^ Same here. Anyone notice they've trimmed the extra thin sheet of wrap they normally include? I mean it's borderline ridiculous now, I know they're just trying to increase profits, but really guys? It used to actually protect the steelbook now it hardly does. It just feels stingy. Damn it's kind of depressing to see Zavvi act this way.

I got Toy Story 2 & 3 today in A1 crapboard mailers. Dented, of course.
Not severely, but dented nonetheless. No padding was included inside.
Couldn't Zavvi have at least wrapped them in a couple of sheets of toilet paper?
Really surprised they did not arrive with more damage.

I think I am at the point of a real dilemma. Cancel my pre-orders now or wait a bit longer to see if Zavvi come to their senses?

Hmm, toilet paper? Maybe we should send them a few rolls so they could provide at least some basic protection to the steels they are shipping. Anything is better than nothing. :hilarious:

Not always it depends if the title was Sale or Return, for an exclusive I would think it would be Firm Sale.

Now if the disc was faulty that's a different issue as that would be a maufacturing defect. The supplier can not be held liable for damage to the case after Zavvi accepted delivery of them.

The bog roll is probably included to wipe your tears away

In all seriousness though, I've cancelled all but one order (Maniac Cop) but seriously reconsidering gambling if that appears at the Arrow store

Same dude, I would really like some of the Arrow steels, but I'm not buying anything from Zavvi till they drastically improve their packaging.

I really hope Arrow sell some later on their site.

well that's twice now zavvi have completely refused to tell me what the print run of the Pinocchio steelbook is. So their allowed to call it a 'limited' release without revealing the print run. I guess they could be considering getting the print run increased. Apart from that I can't think of a reason that they wouldn't reveal it...
