I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

Received my copy of Transformers: Dark of the moon today and AGAIN a zavvi steelbook has a spine slash!!! Come on guys we aren't dealing with rocket science here, Stop opening the f*****g boxes with stanley knives!?!? You must have had 1000's of returns/refunds to process costing a fortune! Feel like I'm :banghead: lol.

I have recently contacted Zavvi about the rewards points scheme as I have lost a few of my points and think it is not right that they just take them without a email, and this is the response I got from them today:

Hello Reiss,

Thank you for getting in touch about your rewards points.

We have had to turn off the points system while we work on a technical issue, once resolved you will be able to spend any points you had previously accumulated.

If there is anything else that we can do, then please do not hesitate to get in touch and a member of our team will be happy to help.

Kind regards,
Dave

Zavvi.com Customer Service Team

I'm completely baffled, back in June it was made clear in several emails the points scheme was to be abolished . I don't want it gone, but do they know what's going on anymore? It seems to be in quite a mess right now.

Hi Guys,

'Dorian' wrote today to tell me there was a mistake and the system had been suspended due to the 'technical error' described previously by another poster, and those customers who still have points will be allowed to use them.

If and when this happy situation may materialize I leave to you dear readers to ponder . . . :)

p.s. Personally, I'm of the opinion that they have had so much flak from customers they have recanted on their previous decision to rob us blind - in which case we may all deserve a moment of praise whilst we await the next disaster to materialize in the ongoing story that is Zavvi customer relations . . .

What I got from Dorian is

Unfortunately we decided to stop the rewardz points offer on the 26/06/2014. This was displayed on our site and an email was sent out to customers.

We allowed those with points remaining to use them on orders for a limited time, but due to an error in the system points were not being deducted so the decision was made to cancel the offer.

I am hoping for a better resolution on this matter but we must stay vigilant.

It is pretty annoying loyal customers that pre-order the disney ones pay full price and then weeks later there is 20% off

Wth!
Now I have to pay €1,19 shipping for every order? So called "gratis verzending"!

I notice you're in the Netherlands, do you also have to pay shipping when using Zavvi.nl??? I'm living in Ireland and shipping is free for me on both sites. I'm not sure where this is coming from for you?

They must have missed me out from that communication - I can't remember hearing anything.

I'm not arsed they've stopped I'm more pissed that I never got the opportunity to use the ones I had before the scheme was pulled.

A reminder would have been nice.

Yes! I tried Zavvi.nl .com & .es.
I never had the shipping cost added before. Strange

So the Zavvi account page has been updated. New shiny buttons and columns. Great. It seems to be as slow as ever though, and there's still not possible to amend shipping address/payment info on individual orders. I wonder if they plan to introduce those features at all in the future.

I've got a few steelbook on pre-order with Zavvi and since placing those my card has expired.

I contacted Zavvi asking if I can change the card details for these orders but they have replied saying it isn't possible.

Now some of these orders have sold out, so obviously I don't want these to be cancelled once they get processed, so I wondered if anyone else has been in this position and if so what happened.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Ahh, that was a near replica of the one I got first - then I told them off and I received the grovelling (for Zavvi) version that said we'll get our points back - altogether now: Somewhere over the rainbow . . . . :)

JayWhit - rotten situation. There is, in reality no reason why they cannot change the payment method for items which are pre-ordered and thus are incomplete transactions.

The only thing stopping them is: A. Bone idleness, or B. Zavvi's 'wonderful' customer relations policy (which incidentally blows in the wind and changes from moment to moment - sadly though, often just from bad to worse!
I definitely recommend shouting at them. Don't swear, but remind them firmly who pays their bloody wages at the end of the day!

Happens all the time, good buddy. My card recently expired so had to go around changing details for pre orders. Amazon? Easy peasy. Play? Done and done. Zavvi? ......Errr.....

Best way is to ignore it, don't tell them otherwise they'll probably just cancel your pre orders. On the day that your card gets charged you'll receive an email about failed payment and be prompted to input different card details. This way you don't have to deal with their customer "service".

Now I never thought I'd be saying this especially here and with all the Steelbooks I have but I just felt compelled to tweet this last night. If you agree can you retweet. HDN I love you all but can't you tell to pull in the reigns it's just getting silly the number of Steels they are releasing.

( :shy: PS Don't check my profile if you're easily offended ! Ahem :emb: )

I don't see the problem with a lot of releases, if they could only get those production defects out of the way. People have different tastes in films, and imo it's a good think that people can now start to collect steelbooks of films the actually like. It's just packaging. To me a steelbook is only as good as the artwork and finish, and I don't really care if there's one or a couple of dozens coming out each week or months. 8 out of my top 10 films still haven't been released as steelbooks. I guess more releases put more pressure on the factory lines, but how does it affect the quality of artwork as long as it's the studios themselves who make them? Actually I would expect studios to spend more time on design if there are more steelbooks coming out. If there's only one or two it has to be a labour of love and it'll take forever for each steelbook to be released. And it's not like steelbook releases before Zavvi were all much better than the steelbooks we see today either. That said, I've got far too many 80s action flicks and superhero epics in my collection. The good thing about the expanding steelbook market is that I just can't get them all anymore, so I can finally start going after what films I like.

Hmm, my view on steelbooks and blu rays is kind of the same really. I haven't got a massive collection of either as in my opinion, only certain movies deserve to be watched in all their glory. I only started to collect blu rays like 5 years ago when I moved to the UK but since then I've only really bought the ones I truly love and this goes for classics like the goonies and other 80's legends to newer one's like rush and Star trek. In terms of steelbooks, I'm really fussy and haven't just bought as many as I can just to have a massive collection. I've got some personal classics like roger rabbit, commando and some newer ones like batman. That being said, it doesn't bother me that Zavvi have been bringing out so many but what does bother me is the so called Ultra Limited Edition which disappear really quickly and end up on ebay for double the price.

My experience doing this on Amazon has been easy, but pleased I'll get an option to enter new payment details on the day the card is charged as worried they might just cancel the order.

Cheers for this and I now feel more relaxed about not losing my steels
