I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

When the postman arrived today I was disappointed to find zavvi had sent my 'First Contact' steelbook in a regular cardboard mailer, not a box.

Update: three more steelbooks arrived today in a jiffy bag. I'll think twice before I order from zavvi again.

This is very worrying news, did the label on the front of the packages indicate where they were sent from?, ie. what is the return address if undelivered.

I would be very concerned if these were from the Guernsey, channel island location as this is supposed to be the Steelbook warehouse.

If it's from the Warrington, Cheshire warehouse/HQ, then even more worried as it would suggest maybe a move from Guernsey ?, hopefully just temporary....

There are two Zavvi warehouses...Unfortunately the Warrington one doesn't have the Steelbook boxes I believe.

I received two steelbooks today; both were shipped from Guernsey and both came in the standard boxes .

At first glance I thought that they had used a different box, as both were brown instead of white. They are the same however; someone in the packing department decided to fold them inside out for a change .

If I buy Daredevil for €36 from zavvi. Then I just pay €36???? Is this a unique German law or something?

Does that mean you have to pay 19% tax on top of the Media Mark't price then also?

Zavvi is based in Jersey. That's not part of the EU.

Zavvi is NOT based in the Channel Islands, only one of their warehouses where they mostly ship steelbooks is, Zavvi is a part of The Hut Group, a company based in the UK, Warrington, Cheshire is the head office. They manage/operate quite a few online retailers.

BUT there are special arrangements between the Channel Islands and the rest of the UK & Europe when it comes to the VAT and Duties, suffice to say it's complicated, that even I don't fully understand....

Did you sign up for something to have them text you alerts, or is it something they've automatically done since you entered the giveaway?

I didn't mean to cause panic with my previous comment by the way... it's just that the last time I entered a giveaway through text message I later started receiving all sorts of spam calls and texts. Plus I'm always very suspicious when it comes to Zavvi.

A lot of people probably thought this was an innocent giveaway but I was thinking the exact same thing, we are getting very cynical in our old age @Noodles lol

Do Zavvi still give you the option to amend payment details if there is a payment problem? The card I used for all my preorders is about to expire and I'm worrying about all those sold out preorders
