I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

I love Zavvi. I never have problem with my orders and have ordered a lot from them. They ship fast, arrived in California, USA in less than a week and the shipping cost is extremely affordable only £0.99 for up to three steelbooks, way cheaper than Amazon UK. I don't know how they do it. I just received two steels today, The Godfather shipped in the new packaging and End of Watch in their old brown envelope packaging. Both arrive in mint condition. I guess it's all depend on the people that handle the package and your location. I hope they will continue ship to US and I will continue support their business.

Never paid shipping from Amazon, even at £1 orders.
The bypass is very simple and intuitive, just pay attention and use your head.

Hey everyone,

Just received my first steelbook from Zavvi and I liked a lot! The Frighteners - Universal 100th Anniversary Steelbook Edition, came fast and in perfect condition. I will buy more from them for sure :scat:

It's beginning to look like RR was a once off because if you look at all the exclusive zavvi steelbooks since although there are some nice one's (black swan) none are in the same ball park as RR.
The only one that even gets close is nemo now don't get me wrong I don't expect all zavvi sb's to be the quality of RR but I just feel that now they want to get as many sb's out as poss and make as much money as poss while only putting half the effort and money in.
With all the new titles to come e.g. nemo, star trek, the 4 fox titles, the indy films all of which appear to have no more embossing than the title (with exception to nemo), I really hope RR wasn't just to chum the waters and once they have they'll start releasing sb's with minimum embossing\debossing, artwork etc. and focus on maximum money savings if so zavvi may not shine so brightly in the near future.
I'm Just sharing my thoughts and fears I really hope I'm wrong and i'm glad zavvi are doing sb's I do hope they keep at it but they need to keep the standard up to fully take over the play.com mantle and be the u.k's no:1 steelbook retailer then they'll make plenty of money.

am I the only person that can't use Paypal when ordering from Zavvi? Every time I've attempted to check out, it tells me 'PayPal is currently unavailable. Please pay by an alternative method.'

Zavvi and the Hut are always giving out 10% discount codes allover the place, yet I have never received one via email -____-

If i wanna place an order, say a month from now, where would be the best place to find a valid discount code?

- thx

They do e-mail them occasionally - if you haven't placed an order for a while or at random times offering 10%. I always check out hotukdeals.com and search zavvi before placing any order.

I know what your saying but I think that Zavvi are having to take on the work of two retailers now that HMV and Play are no longer in the steel game. If you combine the output of steels between these over the years you'll see there were some iffy steels and only a few really well made steels.

Going forward I think there will be some real great ones but it'll take time as Zavvi still need to cement relationships with studios. The Zavvi exclusives so far have been good. Waves on the other hand only ever have a few that are worth it.

You can't emboss everything. The indy steels for example don't really allow more than the title to be embossed ...
I think we should wait until zavvis initial release fever goes away and they'll focus on quality instead of quantity ...

If the uk finding nemo is anything like the German version, then it's not in the same league as Roger Rabbit. RR has a great premium finish and is a heavy steelbook. The German nemo lacks the premium finish and is quite light in hand and feels made out of thinner steel. Quite flimsy. Although a nice steel, it's not in the same class as RR.

I have to say I am extremely impressed at the way Zavvi have turned around their service. Packaging is vastly improved, as are their shipping times. I have no qualms about ordering from them in future, in fact I have 10 Steelbooks on order with them as I write.
I think we should let them know just how pleased we all are with their new service.

THANK YOU ZAVVI...

I'm sure that the Indiana Jones Steelbooks are going to look incredible but probably won't have that special something that sets them apart. I just hope we see more Steelbooks with inventive embossing/debossing designs like Roger Rabbit and Finding Nemo. Stuff like Battle Royale (UK), The Hunger Games (CA), Iron Sky (DE) etc. all have unique artwork which sets them apart. I would love to see a Wreck-It Ralph Steelbook from Zavvi with similar artwork to the Blufans version, but with some embossing.

Anyway I think we've gone too far off topic. Even if Roger Rabbit turns out to be the best exclusive Zavvi release, I don't mind because I have a great film, with a unique Steelbook and with Disney seemingly reluctant to release Steelbooks anywhere else in the world, one that will be sought after for as long as people collect Blu-ray Steelbooks :scat:

It still early days for Zavvi exclusives... I expect them to give us another steelbook that's up to RR standards sooner or later. :D

Quick Q for non-UK Ninjas.

I often help a fellow Ninja out with UK steels and have several pre-orders in with Zavvi on their behalf.

However, the Ninja concerned is thinking of ordering direct as postage seems so cheap, BUT do they send all steel books individually or do they group them in a larger box as per say Amazon???...

Same for me, my last order was for 15 all in seperate boxes. out of the 30ish ive ordered from zavvi I have only gotten one package with multiple steelbooks and it took twice as long to get here in the usa then the individual packages.

I'm new to all this so forgive me if this is an idiotic question but im going to ask it anyway.

Does anyone know how Zavvi work out the positionings for their bestsellers tab for steelbooks.

I only ask this cause i find it very hard to believe that the likes of finding nemo and star wars trilogys are sitting way below some of the ones that have just been added as other pre-orders such as I Robot. Not that im trying to say that these films arent popular but surely with the other films having been on sale for a while now i would expect a higher percentage of sales and therefore higher in the best selling listings.

Like i said maybe a really idiotic question but i do find it hard to believe where some of the releases are sitting within bestseller status.

Help me i may need educated.
