Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

1/19/2013 Member Nyvo tweeted Zaavi about packaging concerns. They said they may be looking into alternate packaging methods.

I've got 5 steelbooks on the way from Zavi, there due to start arriving to me here in Texas over the next week,I'll post an update of how it all turns out,I'm praying for no issues.

Since this is a Zavi topic I figured I'd ask here,Is there a way for us the consumer to petition places like Zavi for specific Steelbooks, say like Dredd or others people are interested in?

Welcome, Grinner. We have a feedback forum where we post suggestions. Zavvi have already taken our suggestions on board and resulting in the release of certain steelbooks (e.g The Sixth Sense). So feel free to do what most of us do and post a topic with a particular title and add a poll to see how many members would like to see it. If the poll is a success, you never know, Zavvi or another retailer might pick it up. :)

I placed a pre-order on Zavvi using a credit card. I have 2 credit cards store at my account. My CC which was used to place the order is no longer available. Do they automatically charge the order to my other CC or decline my order? Thanks for any info

Can I seriously not cancel specific orders when I've purchased a few steelbooks together ?!. I'd like to cancel 4 steelbooks I have on order but it's only letting me cancel the entire order which includes Commando which has now sold out. So I'll have to spend £45.00 I no longer want to just to get Commando ?.

Not when the order is using a discount code. Otherwise you can.

Zavv lets you cancel all or part of the order

When you hit the cancel button you are asked if you want to attempt to cancel the entire order or to Attempt to cancel a specific part of the order, just pick the second option and also add the reason from the drop down menu and your good to go unless The items were purchased as part of special offer and can only be cancelled as a group which is fair enough.

So did you use a code on this order ?
 
Damn, that's it. I used a code. I would have never done it if I'd have known that , I thought it would have just let you keep the order but back at the original price.
Oh well, I'll just have to cancel the lot.

When zavvi charges your credit card and it doesn't work they will contact you to update your credit card information. You can change the current credit card information or add a new card. That happened to me when my credit card company blocked my card for a transaction with an unknown foreign website, i.e. zavvi. The problem is that there are some people whose orders got cancelled when their credit card was declined. Zavvi will never charge your other credit card automatically.

I didn't know Commando was sold out. Don't worry. Like other titles Commando will come back online before the release date.

Anyway, once you use the coupon you cannot cancel part of an order. That is the caveat for using the coupon code and some members have mentioned it before.

EDIT: There is a GB for Commando...:)

Thanks for the info. I canceled the lot and managed to get an order for Commando in with the Zavvi outlet at play for a £1.00 more. I just hope they don't cancel them seeing as though it's sold out on their site.

The card that I used is under restriction because there was an unauthorized transaction on that card. So you were saying sometimes they contact you to update the card but some other time they just cancel because the card decline it?

Placed my first order with zavvi last week. I'm hoping for the best, but was a little concerned over all the packaging issues they've had, and the difficulty others have had with returns from the US. Fingers crossed that the new packaging gets my steelbooks here in good condition.:ohno:
 
Thought I would add that my first steelbook from zavvi arrived yesterday in perfect condition in the new packaging. Hope the next two arrive that way, as well. Will probably shop them more frequently now, especially at their ridiculously cheap shipping rates!:D

This is correct. This happened to me on one of my orders and I received an email notification. I was able to simply change the card and "resolve the issue" and my order went through just fine. It was very simple and actually quite well laid out on Zavvi's system.

They also allow for you to "Retry the same card" or update mailing address in case those options are applicable.

Props to Zavvi for getting that sorted out correctly :thumbs:, as I know this was a hot button for many people that were worried about banking card changes since the time their orders were placed.

i dont usually read retail threads on hdn because i never had problems with any.
although i must say that zavvi is probably the worst model of company for customers and the best for profits.
they are only good at charging.
No customer support number. Automated replies, with disgusting word recognition system.
n out of control system of charges with no explanation.
If i didnt have enebled the notification of charge on my phone i wouldnt have known that zavvi charged me WITHOUT AN EMAIL nor an update on the ''my account'' section.
a company of DISGUST....

yes I have had this issue with Zavvi on several occassions. After many attempts to figure out why this happens, it seems from discussing with my bank and with Zavvi (via email with Zavvi) that it is due to the currency exchange rate changing before the transaction settles. Zavvi puts out the charge for "x" amount, and when the charge settles, the exchange rate has created a new total (USD in my case) and thus becomes a new and separate charge. The problem is, the original "charge" stays on the account as pending for 8 days until it drops off, all the while, holding your funds hostage and unavailable.

international buyers beware of this, because you might see your account swing in negative available balance as a result of duped charges and it could cause other orders to be cancelled.
 
ya but i had no transaction with zavvi. after what they did the last time, i canceled my original account with them
