what's the average time it's taking people in the US here to get their orders in from Zavvi? my order shipped out on 7/2 and not counting the day i got the email or the 4th, today was 7 days, which their site says orders to the US via standard shipping average 5-7 business days. if i counted both of those other days, it would be 9 business days as of today and i've noticed people in states west of me that had packages shipped out on the same date have already gotten their stuff. if i don't get anything tomorrow, i guess i'm gonna have to shoot Zavvi an email about not getting my order.

I ordered 2 Copies-send 6/27/13 - one arrived on 2/7/13 - still waiting for the other one:angry: - will shoot them a Mail next Thursday to get replacement or Refund.

Hey tox, I would add a few extra days due to 4th of July holiday, but I have waited 2-3 weeks for packages from UK on occasion. They are sent 'regular', not express, just like other retailers do. But still, it can't to check in with them if you feel nothing arrives in a few days. So far mine have arrived ok, though I am not a huge fan of the little boxes they are using.

thanks. i know they're sent regular and not express, it's just that i ordered 2 from base.com and they were sent regular as well and both shipped the day before my Zavvi order shipped and i already have both of those. i'm just going by what Zavvi's site says about average delivery times. i also didn't count the 4th in there even though the UK doesn't observe that holiday and since they shipped from Zavvi on the 2nd, they probably weren't even in the US by the 4th. if they don't come today, i'm going to go ahead and shoot them an email just to see what they say.

Hey tox-yes mentioned the regular vs express in case you or other members were not familiar with differing transit times-I hope they arrive soon!:)

Zavvi seem to be locking some orders so you can't cancel parts of it - you end up cancelling the whole order ( Had 2x Thor & 2x Captain America on same order - no discount codes used - wanted to reduce by 1 of each ) - Had to re-order individually and cancel whole order.
Could cause difficulties if you want to cancel part of your order but other items are out of stock. Now taken to ordering all discs on seperate orders in case I need to cancel any.

Zavvi really sucks sometimes.

I think its that they just know most people are now paying with paypal more so than cards, and because there has always been a charge from credit cards they are looking at us as mugs and making out paypal is a credit card.
Well i have news for them.... Seeing as you can now transfer money from paypal to bank in under 2 hours ill be doing that, i emplore you all to do the same.
Just because Zavvi now get all new releases lets not give them the monopoly to do what they like with us :)

Oh...That will fuel the Anti-Zavvi brigade EEK!

It certainly will.

It makes me wonder if they are trying to rile people up on purpose.

You can't be serious. No wait you're right, Zavvi's sole purpose is to annoy Steelbook collectors

Is it because they are trying to squeeze a few pennies out of everyone or is it because Paypal charge stupidly high fees on payments, which more than likely Zavvi have been absorbing up until now? Why is that Zavvi are accused of using dodgy tactics in everything they do? Most retailers don't even allow you to pay by Paypal, so those without debit/credit cards should just be glad that they offer this service.

By the way, Zavvi don't charge you for using a credit card, so I don't know where you got that idea from.

I was saying that most companies have a charge for credit cards online (airlines etc)
I have a paypal business card which is accepted everywhere without charge, however when i type that number in to pay for something from Zavvi im now charged a surcharge.. I dont think so!!!
I just think that they are trying to squeeze even more money from us especially now they have the monopoly on steelbooks and they know it.. But thats just my opinion

Zavvi don't charge for using credit cards though so it is irrelevant whether other companies do or not. I don't agree that they are trying to squeeze even more money from collectors (at least not in this instance). As I said for those who don't have access to a debit/credit card, the fact that Zavvi accept Paypal is a Godsend so i'm sure they don't mind paying a few extra pennies. For those who use Paypal by choice, well that's exactly it, a choice. If you don't want to pay the fees don't use Paypal. Zavvi are under no obligation to offer Paypal as a payment method or indeed offset any fee against their own revenue.

And thats your opinion which is fine, however mine is as ive said and i doubt im the only one.
I just think thats it a mickey take that i can use my paypal card everywhere else without charge, however now i cant at Zavvi because they want to squeeze even more money out of us already hard up consumers. Yes i have a choice but i dont like choices taken away from me and more importantly for those people that can only pay by paypal i think its really unfair on them whether its pennies or not!

But hey us 2 talking about this aint gonna change it and we certainly aint gonna change the world, plus its sunny outside :)

I was trying to draw attention to the fact that people are already having issues with Zavvi's pricing. Which they must be fully aware of by now, considering they take notice of artwork complaints.

So for them to add a paypal surcharge is not doing them any favours in the eyes of anyone who thinks they are already being too greedy.

I thought Visa / MasterCard merchant fees were generally about the 3% mark, and if PayPal charges 4% then that will make sense where this 1% surcharge value has come from.

To offer another payment option is great, but PR wise it may have been better for them to just take the hit on the fee.

You obviously don't run a business, when a company takes a credit card payment they get charged by the card company normally 1-3%

He didn't say that :) he said that zavvi doesn't charge you the customer the fees of the credit card transaction.

Now can we please get this thread back on track and just discuss price drops? There is another thread here where this retailer's policies can be discussed.
I'm sure most will agree ;)

Zavvi have no alternative than to accept card payments though unless they want to start accepting cash in envelopes. :hilarious:

As for "you obviously don't run a business", i'm willing to be 99% of people here don't. It's such a lame way to try and belittle someone's post.

Yes but he is defending Zavvi charging Paypal fees, what's the difference ?

Why do they need to charge extra for Paypal and not Credit card ? as for the argument about doing people a favour by taking Paypal that's just rubbish, they take Paypal because it generates more sales from people who don't have/use credit or debit cards !

I think it has to do with the transaction costs. Whereas the cc companies have a lowrate, PayPal charges the company a standard fee for every payment made, with an additional percentage and also monthly contributions.

Its a very easy payment service which is highly used almost everywhere, but keep in mind that the PayPal service costs more than a cc payment for all retailers. Even more so when the customers pays with PayPal and wants a refund.

In this time where retail is struggling, they have to cut costs wherever they can.
