Response from ES about the finish they are going for on this release:
There’s an emboss on the title treatment, gloss varnish on the front, cutting out the characters and a dull varnish covering the back.

The red text and red image on the back is also a pantone red, which should be a bright pillar box red.

Steelbooks were only a tiny portion of Play's inventory. And as for pricing, play.com were usually more expensive than amazon.uk in most departments.

I have a question for you. - If you going to charge £27 for a "premium product", why leave out content such as the 3D version of the film?

Surely Premium = Definite, no?

Well said. The artwork looks very minimal. No 3D disc. Bring back the competition. We need HMV to do exclusives and keep the pricing under check.

I am now tempted to order this just for reselling / trading purposes.:naughty:

Ordered this, enjoyed the film. It wasn't fantastic but it is watchable. A friend of mine went to see it atleast 3 times :hilarious: The steelbook is nice, would prefer the characters to be a bit bigger, atleast Gemma Arterton anyway. Sounds like the colours will be nice and vibrant top.

No thanks. I said after Jack Reacher that if they were going to continue charging £26-£28 for steels that they'd lose my business and they just have. I couldn't care less about stickers, I'd open it anyway.

Sensible prices please ES.

Same reason here i open my copy. So i dont need to pay for those stickers

That's already cost your friend more than this steebook costs then... Cinema is far too expensive.

Anyway I have pre-ordered, I almost missed out on JR but picked one up on AVForums so happy!!

I missed this at the cinema, but heard it wasnt great!
Really like the artwork though and £27 for a 1000 run doesnt seem too bad. Very tempted with this pre-order.

Tickets are cheaper where i live in Cornwall, £5 on Tuesdays and £7 normally. Generally they are too expensive though.

447 remaining, thats less than half in less than 6 hours!!

I still think some people will have ordered multiple with intention of selling/trading BUT that is up to them. I would certainly grab this now, atleast on pre order because I think this will be sold out by midnight!!

I asked Luke at ES (seems a very helpful chap) about the Blu-ray being the unrated edition and he said:

The discs inside are the same as the standard Blu-Ray and DVD, so yes!

So I've cancelled my normal unrated Blu-ray. :)
