Those were the days!
I still wish we could have gotten The Black Cauldron and Oliver & Company before they put the axe to the line of releases. We were so close when they decided to release The Great Mouse Detective (another from Disney's dark days in the 80's)
I agree! Those two really deserve steelbook releases!

Too many re-releases and not enough to fill in the gaps
So tempted to sell my set as I will never have all the classics on steel (I was willing to accept the wartime, collected, releases never getting a release, but the actual movies should have

not only disney, but also Marvel and Pixar, zavvi has stopped with exclusive editions unfortunately. does anyone in the forum have any good people inside zavvi who handle these things with?

Maybe it's just Disney's business strategy. Never make anything complete, to keep people buying the same films over and over. They did use this Disney vault thing, where there would always be a limited number of films that were available at any given time. Don't know if they are still doing that.

Cleaned up the OP a lot, fixed broken image links, fixed broken links, linked things that were incorrectly linked to other stuff, and added a bunch of missing lenticular listing.

Marvel Studios films should not be included which is was they not previously listed

Disney Collection was Disney Animated Studios Films and Disney live action films not Marvel Studio films
Spider Man films are from Sony Pictures not Disney
Hulk and The Incredible Hulk are from Universal Pictures not Disney

Do we have an updated list? Looks like last time was updated was few years ago. I'm looking specifically for an updated list of the animated ones in order of they were release. Thanks;

I have an excel spreadsheet ordered by release date. I don't have the actual dates though, but these are the last few after Treasure Planet. If you go to blu-ray.com and search these specific titles, you can see the release dates:

36: Meet the Robinsons
37: Atlantis: The Lost Empire
38: Bolt
39: The Rescuers Down Under
40: The Great Mouse Detective
41: Chicken Little

This is good, thank you very much. I just want to keep the list and collection in order. Chicken Little was released in 2018, I'm sure there are more releases after that. This is a good update! Thanks...

Unfortunately Chicken Little was the last release for the official "Disney Collection" line of Steelbooks. They still had Oliver & Company, Black Cauldron, Saludos Amigos, Fun and Fancy Free, Melody Time, Make Mine Music, The Three Caballeros, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. I would have settled for just Oliver & Company and The Black Cauldron though :(

God when you look at the effort they used to put into those steelbooks back then. Now crap art work, no titles to avoid international language problems and they expect you to pay even more than you did for quality back then

Bonus discs and lovely artwork, slipcase...I have some lovely collectors book editions with steels inside (made some unique sets by combining bits from multiple releases - ie beauty and the beast US steel book/metal pack, with the 3 disc blu-ray set of discs from the amary that included a dvd copy, added a 3d BR disc of the flim snd the steelbook lives in the collectors dvd book edition book that has a collectors book inside also, so kind of a self made premium set because the box was dvd only, the metal pack didn't have the bonus or 3d disc etc)
Plus the quality of something like the gorgeous Taiwan Lion King 3d steelbook (can't recall if the 3d disc was included or I added that later) along with some of the weighty metal packs they did back when there was an issue with steelbooj or something,... I didn't mind double or triple dipping to create the perfect set/edition I wanted.
They even put time into the extras disc, fishing out stuff from the vaults, old drawings, behind the scenes stuff etc.

Now we are lucky if we get the title on the plain blu disc in a flimsy, cheap printed ameray.

Even the cheap steels that used generic, phoned in artwork were nice enough (zavvi aladdin anyone?), but some how they appear to have made even less effort and want to charge double to price vs barely a decade prior?!

It's sad enough they gave up but due to accepting I'll never had a full set of classics am considering ditching physical for disney and selling them all off.
I really don't want to but the holes are appearing bigger all the time

Im sort of the opinion that this is a clever poly to stop using physical media and switch to the likes of Disney+.

I’d bet that was the plan, but it’s not working, plus they forget collectors will buy multiple copies of the same movie. They can’t charge us for multiple subscriptions in the same way

I read recently that due to missing a bunch of revenue from physical media (hoped subscriptions would fill the shortfall, it hasn't) they're actually reconsidering their approach to retail and physical formats.

Considering their catastrophic losses over the past few years they would be mad to ignore any revenue from any source.
