Hi All,

It looks like our former thread has become unavailable, so I am posting a new one. Feel free to post pics and share your worst experiences with damaged Steelbooks as received from retailers. I've stickied this one for now.

Thanks,
DB

Got my nemo today and it looks and feels like there is something like a fine hair on the steel. Don't know, if I should open and try to remove it. It's maybe under the paint. Any experience with this issue?

Here is my damaged copy of Alladin

So far Zavvi have only offered me a £3.00 partial refund, not even a bloody mention of sending it back for a full refund. I really am peeved over this and am stuck in a proper quandry. Do I take the paltry £3.00 and keep the damaged copy or ask them for a full refund and be without the copy......

Well I have just sent them a strongly worded email telling them what I think of their pathetic £3 partial refund. I am not expecting much from them but I had to get some issues I have with them off my chest

I received my copy today. Luckily mine arrived 100% mint.

demon i would send that dented copy back to them. I wouldn´t even want to keep that damaged copy if they´d refund me 10£. I would advise you to send it back. You will never be happy with a damaged one! 3£ refund is just a bad joke!

I agree, that steel is a mess and is not worth keeping at all

£3 partial refund?? they are having a laugh! Demon send that back to them and demand a refund, in no way should a steelbook arrive like this!

That's brutal, I they want to be a respectable steelbook retailer they need to have way better CS. Amazon.jp will send a replacement and not ask for you to return the item.

thats horrible Demon, and £3 is an insult. I guess Zavvi doesn't offer the best customer serivce as some members would have us believe

Oh. My. God. Reading this thread has really helped calm me down. It's great/sad to learn that I'm not alone in my Zavvi woes.

Similar to Demon, I have my own little continuing saga going on right now. This is from their initial response:

"I would like to offer you a partial refund of 5.00 as compensation for the damage and disappointment that has been caused."

BTW, this is regarding a steelbook that arrived so badly dented it won't even lay flat. EEK!

@demon and Escuby, as Zavvi (and the old play boxes) have foam which only partially wraps the Steelbook, suggest you keep the box (which has your order number on it) as proof that the item was either damaged in transit or packed damaged. I always found that telling them how much I'd spent there on Steels was a nice incentive for a speedy and sympathic reply. Certainly works with Amazon. Tell them that their (Zavvi's) CS is rubbish and they better get up to speed, comment that even HMV's CS was better and look what happened to them. All the best.

Thanks, surfury - I actually heard back from them after my earlier rant:

"I'm sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the offer of a partial refund."

Then they proceeded to finally turn loose of an authorization number so I can add this one to the others that are already undergoing returns.

Since I'm a forum newbie I can't post a shot of the steelbook yet - I need like one or two more posts.

Here we go...

That's my finger putting just enough pressure on a top corner to lay flat so I could show how the rest of the steelbook had buckled. It didn't come foam-wrapped in the typical Zavvi white box - it came in a brown cardboard mailer.

When assessing its position on the Mangle meter, I'd have to say it's somewhere up there - not the end of the world, of course, but definitely past the point of "a partial refund of 5.00 as compensation for the damage and disappointment that has been caused."

P.S. And I made it to five posts so I could share the screenshot - woo-hoo!

Not as bad as many that have been posted here, but I promised the movie to my son as it is his favorite.

Ended up finding a 3rd party Amazon.co.uk seller that had it and was reasonably priced.

Then, I received my copy of "Cars" in a stupid cardboard mailer...

Curled like a Pringles potato chip! T_T

Received Zombie Flesh Eaters, it had a huge deep scratch near the left front side. :( Obviously a damage which was there before packaging smh.

I was just looking through my collection and I noticed that some of my steels look funny on the bottom. Like the bottom didn't wrap around very well and there's kind of a bend in the middle. One side is straight across but the other side has a bit of a curve. Would this be considered a defect that would de-value the SteelBook? If you were to buy this steel below listed as mint and noticed this, would this be something you would take action on?
