Anyone try this PS3 region free patch?

Just saw this, and am wondering if anyone tried this or something similar. I already have another region-switch capable player and am not a gamer, but we still have the PS3 (was our 1st BD player years ago).

Since there are many BS files and hacks on the web, I thought I'd post to see if anyone has been successful?

Related to this I have a Quick question: is there a program to change the region unlimited times? And is there a good program for watching blus on the PC?

Not to my knowledge I have only 4 changes left. I just changed it to check the playback for yous. The program I use if I have to watch a blu ray on the pc is cyberlink powerdvd8 it came with the Samsung BR Drive.

Reminder guys, the best way to get around region locking is a region free (or the ability to make region free) blu-ray player.

There's a thread that's been recently bumped in this forum that you can discuss that in more detail.

That said, this forum does not promote other avenues to swap out discs at someone else's expense. ;)

The Insignia Bluray player I got for free at Best Buy can swap regions to play and Bluray and can be set as DVD region free. I was lucky to find out it was just a simple code to enter. (And I've had this player for over 2 years and just found out - to play my French X-men FC SB).

93 BDP-93 BDP-93 Universal Network 3D Blu-ray Disc Player

H i I thought I would get a faster response here I am looking at this bluray playe
BDP-93
Universal Network 3D Blu-ray Disc Player My question is will this play all region blurays and regular blurays dont care about the 3d. Also if I do a firmware update on this player will I lose the ability to play all region blurays. I would get the oppo bdp 83 but it was discontinued. Ive seen the oppo bdp 93 has won many rewards and is now $500 I dont mind paying that but is there anychance it will go down in price anytime soon.

Angelo, please use the search feature before posting a new thread. I've moved your question to this region blu-ray player thread.

Thanks

I have one...keep in mind that you'll need to spend another $50 for the region free mod kit (you can find them on eBay). It's an external kit that attached in the back via usb. It's very simple.

wow they just raised the price again on the insignia in the OP ... It was $39.99 last week. I ordered one with a $10 Bday coupon for $32 shipped :) ... $59 still a good deal my original cost $79. Well I'll be testing out this other one to make sure they are still able to be used with remote hack.

Personally, I would find your player that you want and then go here and see if there is a region hack and once you find one that does then buy that player. There are a lot of players that are a lot cheaper that I would pick over the Oppo and just as good that don't require a hardware modification.

I already ordered the opp0 bdp 93 for 588 with free shipping. The place I ordered from does the region free mode and they gurantee the region free capabilities for lifeeven after firmware updates. As far as picking a chepear player over the oppo the oppo has won numerous awards and is pretty much the best bluray player on the market when it comes to electronics Idont buy crap for instance my tv is a pioneer elite kuro 50 inch plasma and has the best black levels you will ever see on a tv.

Yup oppo's are great! Congrats. Nice tv as well, but as for "EVER" I wouldnt dare say "EVER" ;)

'Ever' in tech is outdated the moment its said. There are definitely region-free capable players out there for every budget, and set of priorities. Good to see everyone is helping each other get the info they need here-not having to worry about regions is awesome! :scat:

Yeah this website is awsome and you get a lot of help on these forums. Also when I met ever the comany I ordered from they said there mod is gurannted for life meaning that it will always play region free and if for some reason there is an update that hacks it they will take care of it but stated that they have not had any players come back yet.
