This seller is only sending in a bubble envelope, at least internationally.

As stated in the auction...

"A few additional notes-

For international bidders the plan is to package the item (in outward bound order) in thin foam stuff, bubble wrap, thin rigid cardboard, then plastic bags to fill up the remaining space within the flat rate envelope to protect from both hard impact or grinding pressures in shipping.

If a box would be preferable, I am willing to change my plans, and go that route."

Here is some "food for thought," for those who firmly believe that the production number cannot be below 4,000.

It was reported by some members who went to Comic-Con, that the steelbook was only available at the "Gentle Giant Studio" booth. If true, I find that rather interesting. Has "Gentle Giant Studio" been given exclusive rights to produce the "Sucker Punch" figurine memorabilia? If so, it is plausible, that some kind of deal was brokered between them, Warner Brothers, and Scanavo, in conjunction with any exclusive rights contract, to produce the steelbook (900) exclusive to Comic-Con.

If the steelbook was produced (by those involved) with a 4,000 print run minimum void of any exclusivity by "Gentle Giant Studio" in relation to any contract they may hold with the entities involved, logic would dictate (at least to me) that the steelbook would have been displayed at multiple sites within and directly adjacent to the convention building. Doing so would increase the chances of the production run being sold, or a large portion thereof, given the large number of attendees, not to mention extra exposure of the film to the masses. Otherwise, the potential for loss with the production cost of the steelbook is increased.

Hi all-for some extra fun and since this is quite an active thread, I added a poll. Feel free to join in and add your 2 cents in a vote! Part of the Steelbook collection game is guess work and speculation-have fun! :scat:

Bluray-I am guessing that they are definitely making a profit regardless of the size of the Steelbook. I can't imagine they are not-usually the collectibles are high margin. No way a Steelbook costs $45 to manufacture-G1 or G2. Not sure if you caught Wreck's post, but G1's are apparently cheaper to make.

But since Exclusives, and agreements between companies are usually "under wraps", due to confidentiality, my suggestion that they'd make a profit regardless of size, is also just speculation...

Yeah I've read some companies just take leftovers to other shows, but I guess it depends what was meant by the "900" number-overall, or just for SDCC...and the mystery continues...:naughty:

You could be right, but if they know they can sell say 2000, what possible reason would they make 900. Just to please the collectors. Doesn't make good business sense to me.

They probably had a short run for the San Diego comic con, could it be that perhaps the one in Chicago and New York will have it as well?

That makes more sense. And they would sell just as fast!

Bluray-could have been up front cost of 900 vs. 4000, and the fact that the Steelbook was already released in Canada and will be released in Germany (albeit different covers). But who knows-I think they definitely made a profit. Perhaps they didn't think that 4000 would be sold at SDCC, or if they'd be at the other shows. But many companies later put items on their own website. If they do that, that would be the better bet-as we've seen once they leak onto Ebay, it's blood in the water, all around, LOL. Wreck did say they could have bent the rules for SDCC, and that G1's may need a smaller run now, to get production going. Either way, this type of discussion is definitely part of the fun of the Steelbook mania! :scat:

I need to say this:

How many times I have read over the forums about the so heated G1's releases but today many people is after this one.

Buffalo-I personally think the "limited run" and apparent exclusivity (and I don't, myself, know if there are more than 900 or they'll pop up elsewhere) is outweighing the fact that it's G1, for some people. It really depends on the collector-many shades of gray....
