With Sleeping Beauty and Snow White just re-released, Disney are going to want to maximize sales from those before announcing steelbooks for them.

I'd say towards the end of the year you'll see them. With so many other steelbooks coming out in the near future (often they're delayed) and with The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast as steelbook contenders this year (at a guess) it's just a matter of time.

I have no doubt that Disney will be looking to do all the classics as steelbooks (even the War Years titles). I wouldn't be surprised to see Dinosaur and Winnie the Pooh eventually so that consumers can follow the US list rather than the UK one.

Might be old news but several Disney releases are getting blu ray new runs in the next month or two including Tarzan, Ichabod and Mr Toad, Three Musketeers, Bedknobs. Imagine some or all of them are likely candidates. Massively pumped for Tarzan

Disney UK release schedule is separate from Disney USA

Tarzan is already available in the UK but should at some stage see a steelbook

All Zavvi Disney releases will be from Disney UK Catalogue only

What get released from Disney USA is noting to do with Disney UK and are totally separate in terms of what releases are available and any new releases planned

Some Disney titles are vaulted in USA but not vaulted in the UK and visa versa

Cool, I'd missed that they were the US releases. Still, good about Tarzan as it's the only one of those that I'd be interested in.

True, though I can see Pocahontas and The Rescuers getting delayed till September, plus normally the steelbook sometimes gets announced while it's out in cinemas (Maleficent, Frozen, anything Marvel usually, etc.)

All current DVD and Blu-ray releases have the number printed on the spine. Older releases didn't, but Disney presumably wanted a marketing ploy to create the 'Pokemon effect' of collecting them all.

When the first few steelbooks were released they hadn't yet created a uniform style for them so they didn't have numbers on the J-card (which was also smaller). Now they're putting the numbers on them like the regular amarays.

There still isn't a specific style overall though with the designs, as titles (which were once centralised) becoming a bit more random in their placement, and some have borders (Hercules, Pocahontas) and others don't (Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland). Gloss finishes and embossing now seem to be the norm though whereas before you got some with a matte finish.

I haven't got round to making stickers of them yet but from the test prints (above) they all fit nice so if anyone wants them here they are (print at full size)
