Anyone know anyone who may be able to make up some stickers for the missing "classic number" on the spine of the first few disney releases?

If memory serves , Aladdin, The Jungle Book, The Little Mermaid, Wreck It Ralph and Fantasia didn't have them.

Just to satisfy the completist in me is all. Failing that I'll just butcher an old DVD and stick them on.

I've tried that. Code doesn't work for me.

Zavvi just tweeted the following...

Hint at their next Disney steelbook maybe?

Its already been released from the vault
Standard Amaray Blu-ray is out on Monday 30 June 2014
Its 1 Disc only

Quote:
Rumour has to it #SnowWhite is about to come out of the #Disney vault

Bit of a strange tweet from Zavvi as the Standard Amaray Blu-ray have been available to pre-order for the last 2 months from Amazon.UK and Zavvi
Do Zavvi twitter staff not look at their own website :hilarious:

I'm sure there will be a steelbook release at some stage this year or next year

Seeing all those pictures is good to see how nicely the Disney Collection is coming along.

The only problem is Frozens steelbook....it looks so out of place. I really wish they would of just released a Steelbook in the future, like dead last of one made exclusively for the collection

Yep it's the lack of text on the front that makes it stand out. Not complaining. As you said it's a collection that's coming along nicely.

Frozen fits in nicely with the clear slip from Korea. Makes it look like there is a title on the front and spine. I'm happy with this set so far with a couple of exceptions, Planes and Mary Poppins.

It's a shame that Frozen didn't have the title on the spine at least, but that's the new Disney way when it comes to newer releases as Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier show. Only the US and Canada get the titled versions.

Other than slight variations (gloss/matte, Aladdin doesn't have the Disney logo on the spine, the early releases have code numbers on them and some pictures and titles at different heights) they look pretty good on the shelf. The Pixar set has the same issues and obviously Monsters University suffered the same fate as Frozen.

Well if Zavvi become more greedy might re-release it in the future after they've finished the Disney Collection with a title and spine as an actual Zavvi exclusive. I wouldn't mind double dipping to get one that matches the rest of the collection, I would just pretend that version is part of the collection instead. I mean Frozen is a big hit (for reasons unknown to me) so they could end up re-releasing it in the far future.

If I was Zavvi I would probably just say this version of Frozen is not part of the collection.

I think the only reason it's like this with newer releases is because it's a World Wide thing, with the other Disney steels they are Zavvi exclusives, where Frozen, Thor 2 etc are available world wide.

You know it's funny the Disney collection is spoilt by Frozen and Monsters University spoils the Pixar collection

I don't know if a re-release for Frozen is likely. It's possible I suppose but as you say, I imagine it'll be a long way off.

You're right about the new releases though, it's just a cost-saving method that Disney use now. All Worldwide (excluding the US and Canada) releases are title free as it's easier to just do different J-cards with the information on. It's a shame really as I imagine most countries wouldn't mind if the title appears on the steelbook in English once opened (they are English language movies after all).

Still, we just have to get used to it as I imagine it wont change for the foreseeable future.

Just like the standard Disney releases, with a number on the spine a slip no slip, impossible to have a consistent collection so the steelbooks are no surprise.

It's a more expensive option but that's why I'm thankful for Blufans releases. They've nicely stepped in and provided an stunning option which keeps the titles :) I've gone for those versions on both films.
