Here us a slight guide to the way I glossed mine ok here's what I used

A gravity fed spray gun
yvavu2y8.jpg

Then I used some accelerator and clear coat which I use when I spray cars also added is a slight but if thinners I think it's 2 to 1
apy7e8ar.jpg

The steels are wiped over with cleaners I get rid of grime and oil that fingers can lea e and any oils
desuse2y.jpg

Then I spray it in a booth which is heated and has ventilation AND IS HEATED KNOWN AS AN OVEN
Basically it what I use to spray car bits
apuhypa3.jpg

Then spray and leave them to harden at least a day and this will be hard enough to polish to

OH I FORGOTTO ADD A PICTURE OF THE HARDENER AND THE FACT I GET ALL KITTED UP LIKE WALTER WHITE FROM BREAKING BAD ....

WELL A BREATHING MASK AND OVERALLS AS THIS STUFF ISNT GOOD FOR BREATHING IN A CONFINED SPACE

Edited for trading

Ok guys, here's my second attempt at glossing, but the first attempt with the spray form...

meryqeta.jpg

These are all the materials I used (this glossing has been brought to you by the folks at Groupon)

"Before" pics...Victim #1: "The Dark Knight Rises" (US - Best Buy)

"After" pics of Victim #1 after 2 coats...As you can see, I had some issues with these little craters forming in the gloss. Not exactly sure why it happened. May have been that I used too much or that I was too close to the steelbook when I sprayed.

This is after only 1 coat. It's shaping up to look VERY NICE!

"After" pics of Victim #2 after 2 coats of gloss. As you can see, this one came out MUCH better. I still had a few little craters, but they were MUCH smaller and MUCH fewer. I heated up the steel with the hair dryer before spraying this time (not sure if that made ANY kind of difference LOL). I also kept the spray can further away during spraying (I do think that made a difference). And finally, I waited a little bit longer before using the hair dryer on it after spraying. This one looks AMAZING in hand!!!

Final product...You can see here that Captain Phillips came out a million times better...

Awesome!! Indeed CF came out a beauty! Batman...... I've never seen that on any of mines. I thought it was just a small areas but from the look of the cover, seems that it got really bad:( 2nd Attempt FTW!! Practice, practice and Practice ;) Great Job Compadre:scat:

Thanks buddy! Yeah, with Batman, I think I was just spraying too closely. But C.P. ended up with a few little ones also, so it may just be what I'm using or maybe it is a technique flaw, who knows...? But thank you for the kind words and all your help/advice! It's MUCH appreciated, mi amigo!!!

Looking good guys the effect your seeing is it like an orange peel effect . I got that on iron man and hunger games .
It's easily sorted if you get some 1500 grade sand paper and use a new sponge and water and rub the orange peel area then some cutting compound or polish and then it'll come right out
Like I said the iron man 3 was like that then it's flat now

Well try a small bit first as that's how you sort out that effect with the stuff I use

Tried double coating on Fantasia, Die Hard 1 and Silence of the Lambs and has came out really well.

Aformentioned I don't want to go overboard with the glossing and making the Steelbook a fingerprint magnet.

The design on the back of Fantasia is godawful and even the highest quality glossing cannot give it a facelift :(

Pics will be uploaded tonight subject to Junior sleeping on time. :)

One Steel that badly needs glossing is Avatar 3D Asia. It is one of the overrated Steelbook IMO. The quality is absolute rubbish especially the inside as you can't even make out what's in there.

After reading and seeing some badass Results, I decided to try it out on .........X - Men :D it's the go to Practice steel. I had some left over Spray can that I used on my car and decided to try out. First I cleaned the surface with alcohol and then wiped it down with a Lint free cloth and sprayed it once. Then I got the hair dryer and Dried it completely. I repeated this process 2 more time and on the last coat I put it Thicker. Not 100% satisfied but Not bad for the first try:D

The Amazon reviews for this top coat are not good. Think I'll try a gloss clear coat with better reviews...

The ones I've held and messed around with don't have fingerprints. It shows for a little bit but then they dissappear @_@
Can't wait to see some pics :D

lol ocielz.... u are turning into a pro dude :D ...that Wolverine... seriously.... OMG! EEK!

Thanks man, it really does add a whole new level to the bland steels.

Yeah I read some of those but I'm not getting any gasoline or any other elements near them;) remember this is a clear coat for automotives and suppose to protect to harsh conditions that the steels won't be subject to.

I saw another Clear coat that a review mentioned but it's costly and once activated, it lasts for 48 hours and then it sets:(

Glossed Django Unchained (UK), Prometheus (UK), Hunger Games HMV and Die Hard 5 (UK). Screwed up Hunger Games especially the top right hand corner as I applied too much coating :(. The rest have come out well and suits my taste though it is was only a single coat. Looks like the one I bought in Amazon isn't thick enough and requires at least 2 or 3 coats to make it look super glossy.

Pics - not yet uploaded as still bothered by Junior :)
