I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

well i just heard back from zavvi about my crushed steelbook and they want me to return the item and they have sent me an instructions email in which they state : "Please ensure you package your return securely to prevent any damage to the items or boxes" . :hilarious:

10% partial refund is a big joke

you just have to tell them you are not satisfied with that and ask them for a replacement

i'm really sickin tired of this company

is there any news yet on their future packaging method? will they just keep using these ultra thin cardboard mailers ???

Yeah, but this time I think I'm partially to blame, I accepted it wishing I hadn't now seeing as how I can't imagine this will go OOS anytime soon.

I endorsed the silly refund by accepting it, that should be a new Sonic Sez episode right there and say no to 10% partial refunds.

Just have to suck it up, you live and learn I suppose.

I received a replacement copy of Hercules as the original Zavvi sent was dented. So this replacement is unsealed, has scratches on it and a nice big dent on the front...thanks Zavvi...

They really are getting a joke, funny they have no phone number as they would be getting ***** for their carry on recently. I wish like Amazon would have got more exclusive and steelbooks :(

I purchased a copy of Hercules from Zavvi a week or so ago, it arrived with paint chips on the front, I emailed them and sent pictures, they offered me a partial refund of 10%, I obliged. Regretting that decision, I would've sent it back for a replacement but didn't want this to go OOS so I sucked it up and moved on. However seeing as how it's still in stock I emailed them yesterday asking if it was too late to send it back for a replacement copy, Zavvi tell me they consider the case closed since I accepted the lousy 10% partial refund. Are they allowed to do this? I know I shouldn't have accepted the partial refund but it's too late to undo that so I just want to know where I stand within my customer rights.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, Zavvi are correct in what they say. When it arrived in a damaged condition, you would have been within your rights to have insisted on a replacement or a full refund. However, by accepting their offer of a 10% refund, you have agreed to retain the goods in their damaged state, in return for that partial refund.

The best analogy would be where you have a claim for damages in Court but you accept an out of Court settlement. Having accepted that settlement, you can't later reinstate those proceedings in order to get more than what you settled for.

Alrightieeethen....to get get a response from Zavvi has not been easy in my case. Offcourse it's been about damaged steelbooks.
About ten days ago i received Re-Animator damaged and a few days ago Ghostbusters i the same condition.
Tried two differrent e-mailadresses ( one [email protected]), but no response whatsoever.
Today i logged into my Zavvi -account and went to order-history and the item and tried the query-button. Wrote a message and attached a pic. The day after i got an email from them......money back. Get to keep the steel , Ghostbusters. Today i went the same way with R-A. Will see what happens.

I've done the same. Always send pictures as an attachment on their website not by the email address they provide. They never respond, and when I contacted them via their website if they received the pictures via the email, they dodged the bullet and seemed to be completely oblivious to what I was talking about. What exactly is the reason for [email protected] if no one seemingly checks the emails? I grow weary of their customer service.

But I can't seem to stay away.

Hmmm, I have a bunch of preorders from zavvi, like over $100 worth alone in just Indiana Jones movies steels, I'm thinking about canceling, living in the states and having this "new" packaging it just seems to risky to far to not get damaged, I'm lucky my V for vendetta wasn't messed up....

EVERYONE STOP ACCEPTING PARTIAL REFUNDS
until you do this nothing will change as Zavvi are still making a profit on damaged steelbooks.

How did you find out what margins Zavvi are making on Steelbooks? A lot of people seem to think that Steelbooks are a money-spinner for Zavvi but it is obviously not the case. If it was Amazon would have stepped in and cleaned up years ago.

you should get an email saying they can't charge the card-you should have the option of doing so a few days before the official release-this is how I lost out on From Dusk Till Dawn as the card had changed on my paypal account but they were billing an old card still-

buy another one then send back the faulty for a full refund-

the sale of goods act 1979 states that items purchased must be of satisfactory quality, free of defects and packaged in a way that will ensure a safe journey to the buyer-otherwise they have to offer a full refund and/or replace the goods to the customers standards-IT'S THE LAW!!!!!!

So they advertise themselves as "The Home of Steelbooks" they send you emails whenever there is a new release I've spent hundreds of pounds in the last couple of years & that's just me one person. They are the biggest seller in the UK of steelbooks some of which retail at £24.99
They sell to buyers outside the UK. & you're saying they will not make much profit?
I think they are probably making a lot more than you think & Steelbooks probably cost peanuts to make. Zavvi have gone bust once & I don't think they would sell something that's not making money.
This still doesn't excuse poor packaging and damaged goods & the way they treat customers.

Thought I would bring to everyone's attention that zavvi.nl has the 15% promo with Pocahontas and it INCLUDES pre-order disney (like Aristocats) and recent disney steelbook releases (like Alice in Wonderland). I re-order Pocahontas with Aristocats and Hunchback of Notre Dame for 15% off!
I don't know how limited time this offer is valid. I noticed it earlier in the day and it is still valid.

Decided to take a punt on one of the import steelbooks. Look nearly two weeks to arrive and came in the new style cardboard mailer with no padding at all - instead the steel had just been put into a really thin, sealed, plastic bag. Opened said bag and the steel had a massive scratch down one side, with the wrap ripped in a big way too. Thing is there was zero damage to the mailer OR the plastic baggie thing, so it seems it must have been damaged before they even sent it out.

Sent it back with a photo and asked for a replacement, instead Zavvi sent their usual rubbish auto email saying they would refund me when it was returned (at least at their cost mercifully). Guess that was a sign for me not to bother re-ordering, those import steels (the Reel Hero ones) look like they would be easy to damage and with Zavvis rubbish care and attention and crap customer service (why do they never just READ your email?) it is too much hassle.
