They will only give you the Pre-order Price Promise up to release date if its listed on the website listing and important you don't use any discount codes or any other promotional offers when ordering

They are not the best for automatically giving you the lower price you would have to contact them to get it after its been despatched and if you don't you will end up paying the dearer price

What majority of us do to avoid the hassle of looking for the reduced price is when you see the price drop
Do a new order at new price and then after new order confirmed cancel older order to make sure you get the reduced price
@paulboland Thank you dear Sir for the response. I find it very informative. Funny thing that I did exactly what you shared at the end just last night. I found a listing a little cheaper (not a lot, but it all adds up at the end) and placed a new order and request for cancellation on the item that was part of an earlier Order invoice. So far, it's still there and I haven't received any reply or confirmation from Zavvi that the cancellation request went through or have been processed.. Does it usually take time?

Was it a Pre Order or in stock item you asked to cancel
If it was in stock and in process of been shipped then you would get a failed cancellation request
Its risky doing this if item is in stock as you will end up with 2 orders been processed and shipped
I always check first to see if my Debit Card been charged if it has there is no point trying to cancel

If it was a Pre Order you will be fine

They usually reply in a few hours to a cancellation request and your order would have updated to show this unless it was shipped instead
Check your emails for despatch of an order

Is it a Pre Order or in stock item you ordered and requested to cancel

You don't have any legal rights to lower price
Just because they lower the price next day on titles you previously ordered
You were not mislead or ripped off

Its just bad luck and timing

Its retail you will always see a new offer happen just after you purchase something
You could go into your local shop buy something and the next day its reduced in a promotion or just in general you would have no rights whatsoever to demand the lower price

It's frustrating, but I learnt a valuable lesson from it at least ;)

However if this happened in a local supermarket, and item purchased had a significant price drop the next day; I'd say it was an unwanted item and return it and then buy it again for the lower price. I know people do this. Zavvi did offer a return label, but of course I'd have to cover postage costs, which wouldn't be worth it.

It also seems Zavvi are exempt from the unfair tradings act. Notice how the so-called "24 hour sale" which started on Sep 29th is still in effect. They never intended to put the prices back up after 24 hrs, it was just a marketing ploy to get more orders in. Which is misleading conduct! :squint:

It was a pre-order item that is not set to be released until January next year. I just checked my mail and account, still no update. I may need to send a follow-up...

The new website is utter crap!
It loads horribly and doesnt even have half the features of the old one. 'The heck did they do?

Anybody else remember this scene from the Simpsons when Homer wanted to order a microphone/radio from a TV station as it was about to 'sell out'? The guy on the other side told him there was 'a couple left'.

Always reminds me of Zavvi.....
That applies to all businesses. They want you to feel a rush of panic to order before its too late. This is applicable to a lot of things in life. ;)

Can anyone tell me what the experience of returning a brand new unopened steelbook is like with Zavvi? (simply changed my mind)

Do I pay return postage or do they reimburse you? Will I have to send it recorded incase they say they didn't receive it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi again, they don't reimburse postage costs for returning on the basis of it being no longer required. For safety measures, it's best to send it back recorded.

I'm going to send an item back via Royal Mail, standard class as is valued less than £20 and I believe you get basic cover if under said amount. That said, I'm not too sure if these rules are applicable in Ireland. Would especially depend on what part of Ireland you're from, from what I know the Republic does not use RM as it's not apart of the UK and would be more costly.

Perhaps send Zavvi a message on Facebook and excuse my ignorance on this matter! :)

To return just one item a Zavvi Steelbook
Unwanted Items you have to pay the postage costs to return and must be unopened
Depending on what you paid it might not be worth returning for a refund as the postage cost can mean its just not worth it
An Post
Recorded Delivery with insurance cover is €9.80 each item
If you want to just have proof of posting its €5.00 each item it includes tracking

Standard postage with no proof of delivery cost less and best option if you don't want to be out of pocket to much
Note with this option you don't have proof of posting and if lost you loose out on claiming its not been delivered
An post will tell how much this will cost based on size and weight

Legally speaking shops don't have to accept an unwanted item that is returned to them (they just have to stick to their returns policy if they have one). Many shops however do accept returns for unwantem items as a goodwill gesture.

Thanks for the in depth, and really helpful posts UpsetSmiley and paulboland.

You're right, it's not going to be worth my while so I'm going to hold onto them after all. The downside of living outside the Royal Mail parameters :(

That's not fully correct with distance selling rules you have the right to change your mind and get a refund and this applies to all goods purchased online
Cooling-off period
You are entitled to a cooling-off period of 14 days, which begins on the day that you receive the goods. In the case of a service, the cooling-off period begins on the day the contract for distance selling was concluded.

In the case of digital content, the cooling-off period expires when the downloading or streaming starts.

During the cooling-off period, you can cancel a distance contract without giving a reason and without incurring charges or penalties, other than possible charges incurred in returning the goods.

If a trader fails to provide you with information on the right to cancel, the cooling-off period is extended to 12 months from the date it would have expired if the information had been provided. If the trader provides the information within this 12-month period, the cooling-off period expires within 14 days of the consumer receiving it.

Yes that is true, but I was replying to someone who said if it were a supermarket i.e. a physical shop they would take it back if it dropped in price the following day and claimed it was an unwanted item. Under which shops don't have to accept it as a return, they merely have to follow their returns policy if they have one.

A word or two in praise of Zavvi packaging - I never thought the day would come :)

Collected my free (well they still owe me £3-69 ish) Jessica Alba canvas print from the Post Office today.

To my utter amazement it came swathed in bubble wrap and was placed insde a stout cardboard box!!!!!

Now why, oh why can't they do this with ALL the vulnerable goods they sell? Steelbooks, Box Sets,, etc??????

I also had that wrapped like that that and it's kinda junk but my pop figures come in an empty no paper no bubble wrap, wet smashed cardboard box so they are destroyed. They really are a joke

Can you return a damaged steelbook for just a refund??

it depends of the return cost , if the cost is too high they will probably sent you a replacement or refund you and you may keep the damaged item

speaking of damaged items ... i ordered 8 steelbooks from their flash sales of which 2 arrived today and guess what ... one arrived with two dents

their packaging is really hit or miss :(
