Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

1/19/2013 Member Nyvo tweeted Zaavi about packaging concerns. They said they may be looking into alternate packaging methods.

I had an issue today. I ordered 2 items from them. I then discovered I had one of these in a different order and went to cancel the 1 item that I had ordered twice. I wasn't able to cancel just the one because it said I had used a code so it was all or none, except I didn't use a code. What if one of those items had been sold out?? Very fishy, or are they trying to curb cancellations?
 
See, that bold line down there is exactly what makes your "YAY ZAVVI" posts unsubstantial and completely redundant. You clearly state you've never had an issue, yet you talk about "brilliant" service? See, packing up a SB and shipping it isn't a problem. Any idiot can do that, right?

Usually, the service comes AFTER people have an issue. For Zavvi, that's quite obviously not the case - for their customer "service" is among the worst we've ever had to deal with. It's a consistent heap of crap that's only getting bigger and stinkier as time goes by. It should be obvious, after all these cancellations, right?

For you to come into a thread like this, and post something as exaggerated and ridiculous as the quoted post below, is only good for one thing, and that's throwing more fuel on a fire that's already out of control. Not only do you sound fake, and like Zavvi is paying you to come here and say this crap - you're also insulting members and other retailers by saying things like "If only all retailers could become more "Zavvified" the world would be a better place." Do you really think the ludicrous amount of people who have had horrible experiences with them in the past, present, and (inevitably) future, want to read something like this? Seriously dude, what are you doing?

As for your statements about Zavvi's prices....well, if you can't see that other retailers are much cheaper than Zavvi, something is clearly wrong with you. However, since you're able to come here and write with somewhat proper grammar, spelling and punctuation; i refuse to believe you're stupid. Now, again, this leads me to think you come here for the sole purpose to piss people off OR you're being paid by Zavvi.

If neither of these options are you, i strongly suggest you start using your head and exercise some tact before you hit the "submit reply" button.

Thought I'd pop in just to say how happy I am with Zavvi right now. This is the right thread yes. What a retailer, just got Aladdin yesterday as well and it's freakin awesome. Arrived mint just like every steel I have ordered from them has done. Brilliant service to date and never had a single issue. If only all retailers could become more zavvified the world would be a better place. Amazon and play could learn a thing or 2 from these guys. Brilliant work Zavvi keep it up. By far my fav retailer ever. The best steelbooks at the best prices. Thank you.

Folk, just a reminder-please do not post inaccurate or overblown info-our members take advantage of price and service comparison everyday. As consumers, they should, and we all should. To our members who don't care to see these possible deliberate and planted posts, please feel free to block the user, and feel free to take advantage of our knowledgeable member base to get help on aspects on an item before purchasing.

sent back my Finding Nemo because it had scratches on the edges, now they say they cant replace it and will only offer a refund. Bad system, they should put copies aside for each customers case when they send you a Returns Authorization Number. Peed off :(
 
I just got my replacement for I robot and Black Swan steelbook, they both had scratches
I robot replacement still has scratches, but I guess it's impossible to get mint steelbooks from zavvi

Black Swan steelbook is worst than the one I sent back, it is bend ! Even the steelbooks from amazon CA were in better condition (only a spine slash) ! I'm really disappointed, I wait for almost a month to get my replacement and the one I got is only good to be put in the trash
 
Wow, zavvi is really putting the iceing on the cake here.

Just received an e-mail this morning on wend,

"Thanks for placing your order with us at zavvi.com - XXXXXXXX

There has been a problem processing the payment for your order. As we have been unable to take payment, we have had to cancel the order."

This was for Aladdin, the thing is...

MY ORDER ALREADY SHIPPED ON MONDAY. *sigh*

In the last 2 months its more like 4-5 announcements per week. Last week we had 5 and 3 this week so far. It is quite possible there may be a couple more announced later this week. Some of the titles are just garbage IMO.

It's getting difficult to keep up now, I'm in desperate need of a Zavvi discount code so I can cancel some orders and reorganise the others.
 
I think we're losing what was special about steels in the first place. I can't afford to keep up with Zavvi at their rate of release nor their pricing structure.

And for that reason, I'm handing in my steelbook notice. So long, all! It was fun whilst it lasted :)
 
Got to love zavvi! My Aladdin steel came with a scratch down the front so I asked for a replacement. I've just received a message saying that they have none left and its a refund or nothing. The thing that's p****d me off is that this was still available on the zavvi outlet when I got in touch with them. Surely some of that stock should have been held back? Thanks a lot zavvi
 
^^ I'm still surprised that nothing seems to be happening in regards to this problem. It's not just Zavvi that do this either (although attention is on them the most currently because of the sheer volume of steels they're releasing).

I even made a separate thread about this issue but it was closed/moved. I'd put this in the same category as spine slashes - i.e. many people suffer with it but no action is taken and it's generally brushed aside.
 
What the F is with these guys... In stock, OOS, then back in again. They have the WORST tracking system I've ever seen. Things like Bad Boys, Wolverine sell out and then come back in 6-7x times. Gives me the feeling they are just printing more copies which really is NOT COOL considering these are suppose to be "LIMITED"

No wonder why so many folks including myself are quitting the Steel game. All these re-releases and massive print runs just don't make it worthwhile anymore!

I raised this point before and was quickly shot down for dissing Zavvi. I was told it's OK for other sites to bring Steelbooks back into stock (eg: Amazon) but when Zavvi does it everyones giving them a hard time.

My point was, yes, sometimes a small number of copies of certain titles come back into stock (even on other sites) but it's usually just after the item has been released (not before) and it's usually titles that are available worlwide so people cancel orders depending on if they can get a better deal elsewhere or suppliers may have held back some stock from somewhere else etc...

I was shot down for voicing the opinion that this was a marketing ploy by Zavvi to sell more copies of an item that's not really doing that well to begin with. Think about it, if something goes OOS it suddenly becomes sought after. Suddenly it's back in stock and everyone's running over their own mothers to snap up a copy! It's a great way of getting sales up.

These are Zavvi's own exclusives, and they can't tell how many copies they have left or when it's actually sold out??????

If it's not sold out prior to release then they should stop putting it on the listings. The damn things haven't been released yet so how could copies keep reappearing if it's supposed to have been 'sold out'??
