I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

You only have to run your mouse pointer across the top of the Zavvi homepage to see that Steelbooks make up a very, very small % of the stock they sell. Even Amazon are guilty of sending out duff product despite their assertions that it is perfect, so Zavvi will be no different. However the difference is that whilst Amazon's CSR is good, Zavvi's CSR are very slow to respond and in what can be a fast moving market as to Stock Zavvi are not the sharpest knives in the drawer. Give them time at least to get their packaging right and I think we'll see a great turnaround.

just had a steelbook from zavvi. arrived in a thin jiffy, damaged.
sent them an email, giving them the option of either a replacement packaged well OR a refund and i will buy elsewhere. also asking them if they will be using good packaging in the future, and when. and stated that i will be cancelling all my pre-orders if they intend to keep using poor packaging.
Wonder if i get a response at all.
i had looper from them in a card mailer, seems in good condition (still sealed though, might be bashed under the data sheet i guess)

they really are terrible from top to bottom, its always the same generic response from customer services, shipping takes SOOO long, packaging is poor and comes damaged... i don't mind paying 3 pounds for shipping if that helps with packaging

its been almost a month and i still haven't gotten my men in black :(
i plan to do a charge back w/ my credit card company if it doesn't show up by next monday

Hey guys, I never ordered from Zavvi before... But lately they have so many titles that I just couldn't say no (Star Trek, Finding Nemo, Star Wars...) But from what I read they seem to don't care about their shipping method, so what if I ordered the steelbooks and they arrived damaged, normally what Zavvi could do?
- Partially Refund?
- Return the item for full refund?

(which at this point I still don't think this is quite fair as we need to pay for the shipping cost then we got our money back, eventually we lost our money from shipping cost and get nothing...)
And if I order 2 steelbooks, would it be much more protection than just one steelbook? How the parcel would be for 2~3 steelbooks? Or they'll more heavier and get more damage...?

Thank you guys...:D

Even if you order more than 1 steel, I'm pretty sure they still ship them separately so that they can use the cardboard mailers.

I've ordered 2 steels (at the same moment) from Zavvi to try their service... well.. gotta say that I'm not impressed at all...
One in a cardboard mailer and the other in jiffy bag... may I remind you that I've ordered both at the same time in the same order...

Thank you Marc, all we heard was bad reputation of their packaging... I kept wondering as so many customers complain about this but seemed like they didn't improve their packaging.. :(

Not sure if this is the right spot to post this but I'm a US buyer and I started an account on Zavvi and tried to purchase something but it won't authorize my credit card or debit card when I tried the PayPal option it says Pay Pal isn't working. I emailed their customer service but with not response, any thoughts?
Have you spoken with your credit card company? Sometimes they won't authorize overseas transactions and require that you clear that with them first before they approve the purchase.
That's exactly what it is, same thing happened to me and my card company called ~20 minutes later. I can't explain the PayPal thing (which also happened to me), but the failed authorization is most likely just fraud protection.

Drum,

If they don't sort out their packaging by the time WFRR is released there will be a riot, plus HDN Members will want their guts for garters :hilarious:

Sorry about the Steels bud !! :(

WFRR will indeed be the acid test for Zavvi, especially as it seems so many orders will be exported. If they can get the improved packaging right and in time then they will have a lot of new and happy customers. If they arse it up then they'll get loads of returns and presumably a lot of cancellations for other steelbook orders.

I hope they succeed but there's really no excuse for not making some improvement over the woefully inadequate packaging they currently use. Even sourcing some non-branded materials as a short-term improvement would do them a lot of good in the longer-term. Eureka ship their Masters of Cinema steels in a non-branded corrugated cardboard wraparound mailer, for example, and this does the job very nicely.

Just a little warning about Zavvi...

I am currently waiting for a refund for a return item from 2 months ago, they are not answering emails anymore and the last I heard from them, they claim the item never reached them. I sent the item via courier and has a signature but they are refusing to pay.

I will keep the thread updated, but my advice is keep your purchases small at this place at the moment.

Thats paint ruboff is not from the packaging. I got 100% damage on my order this week. All my Goldeneye, Wolverine, and cant remember the last all had massive rubboff on the corners. They have yet to respond.
