Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

1/19/2013 Member Nyvo tweeted Zaavi about packaging concerns. They said they may be looking into alternate packaging methods.

apart from steelbooks i don't think i have bought anything else from them as they seem to be rather expensive compared to amazon, that said never had any problems with them
 
Those who want to complain send a email to [email protected].

I have just sent an email to Matthew Moulding. He is the CEO of the hut group. I have also sent an email to [email protected]. In a nutshell I have had no response from zavvi after repeated emails to their customer service about the damaged steelbooks evil dead and jungle book. These are the 2nd replacements for both!!
I have stated in my email that if I don't get a satisfactory conclusion, I will be reporting them to trading standards.
Fellow ninjas, if you are fed up with zavvi like me, do the same.
Here's hoping for a swift response... if not trading standards WILL be getting a call from me!!! >:(

Does Zavvi have a general customer service email address? I'm trying to cancel a steelbook that was part of an order. The system won't let me cancel because of a discount code and the contact Customer Service section won't allow me to choose that order.

Raise a Query on that specific order in your account section. The Query button is right next to the Cancel one, then just select the options that say you want to cancel part of your order and it will say you can do it yourself - ignore that and hit the button at the button of the page to send your query to a customer rep. They'll cancel it for you.

Thank you. I chose "I want to cancel my order" "I want to cancel an item from my order" and "Discount Code Issue". I checked the box for the steelbook I wanted to cancel and clicked "Send an Online Message". I didn't have an opportunity to write anything but I guess this is how this works. I'm assuming Zavvi will get the idea that I want to cancel the one item. What a pain lol.

Exactly right. I've done it on a few orders myself, they will send you an automated email saying they will process the cancellation then a few hours later (or the next day depending on time) it will have been done.

Just done a bunch of cancellations myself, and it's a weird system but it works (eventually). Glad I could help.

They use much thinner foam now and sometimes even nothing

All my recent steelbook purchases from zavvi came in their new foam
Basically they could have send them without the foam, it doesn't provide any protection at all. The cardboard packages are also thinner. 4 out of 9 steelbooks were damaged (scratched)

As much as I have not been a Zavvi fan this month, I have to say that the IM3 order was immaculate, albeit with the silly foam substitute they are using.

So, credit where its due.

Here you are db. Should be self explanatory which is old and which is new.
It doesn't show as clearly in the picture as in person, but the new foam leaves the steelbook underneath so legible, they may as well simply pack it in a sheet of wax paper! :hilarious:





 
Play.com never stated print runs and zavvi have stated future releases will be either 4k or 5k so not reading too much into it
 
IT was there, they took it down. I would read into it as they are gonna make ALOT more than 5000. If they weren't it never would have come down. Heck I ordered both of these just because of the print run. I just cancelled my orders for both now as I believe it will never go OOS and price will come down.

They give me no reason to believe otherwise. When it was advertised at 5000 and then they take that off the listing it is for a very good reason. They don't want people to know the true numbers. I don't believe much of anything I hear and read on this board anymore when it comes to numbers. I feel as they are pulling numbers out of their asses kind of like antonios does on a daily basis.

Sure. That's the only reason to get a steelbook? Guess that some of us here would rather have a crappy looking steelbook with confirmed 5k print run than a good looking steelbook with 7-10k print run.

That said, I'm all for being transparent. There's no reason why Zavvi shouldn't be up front about this.

apparently it was selling out 3 months before release, so its quite logical to increase the print run

they just didnt take into account that many solely bought it for resale

I would have ordered the German version of Monsters University instead as its cheaper.
