Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

1/19/2013 Member Nyvo tweeted Zaavi about packaging concerns. They said they may be looking into alternate packaging methods.

Missing steelbook + customer service

I am not happy with zavvi's customer service at the moment.

I send them a DOR for a missing Cinderella and their customer service replied that they cannot accept it because of the presumed electronic signature.

I added my signature with a Wacom tablet to the pdf.

They accepted the same signature before for a missing Arielle.

I would be more than happy to fax the form but they don't provide any fax number.

I didn't know where to post this, but when you go to the zavvi site and look at steelbooks you get the buttons to sort and the most important one that is missing is Zavvi Exclusives. Those are the most important ones and I am sure I am not the only one that would like to have that option when looking for steelbooks to order from zavvi. If someone that works here on HDN can pass this on to zavvi it would be much appreciated. :scat:
 
This is the problem: Zavvi have always been a poor retailer (waaaaay before they started dealing in steelbooks) and I don't see any evidence of that changing.

Having said that, it would be nice if they turned things around.
 
Makes me wonder why it never worked out for them as a high street retailer. I think if HMV sales didn't plummet like they did they could've been the home of steelbooks instead.

Zavvi drama

Ordered the Tarantino xx box and it arrived in a plane jiffy bag (no bubble wrap or card), no surprises it was damaged. Sent it back at my own expense and requested an exchange but the item was out of stock. Refund.

The box set came back in stock and so I ordered and again it was shipped in a bare jiffy bag and again arrived damaged ! I asked Zavvi to send a replacement before I returned the item incase they ran out of stock but they were having none of it, even after all the hassle I've had. Paid for return postage again and just decided to cancel. Ridiculous to be honest :angry: !

  • No live chat available - waiting almost a day between email replies
  • Poor packaging - Sent a £45 box set in a plain jiffy bag... Twice !
  • Buyer pays return postage on damaged items
  • Won't budge on returns - expected a gesture of good faith after two damaged packages, but they didn't seem to care

It's good to vent

I might be mistaken, but the retailer is responsible for things damaged/lost in post and any associated cost in resolving it to the customers satisifaction. If however you simply change your mind about the purchase then the cost is born by the consumer. I think it comes under the Distance Selling Regulations as you can't inspect the item before purchasing.
 
might have been asked before but whats the most of one item you can order as i will need about 6 or 7 indiana jones (for other people just getting into steels and i want the points lol and teh cashback , or im gonna sell them which ever you ewant to believe)
i thought it was 5 but i dont want o order more and then they get cancelled and then cant get them again
 
What are people's experiences with getting Zavvi to amend a shipping address on an existing order? I no longer live in the same place I ordered the Indiana Jones steelbooks from a year ago so I need to get them to change it. I've heard before that they just cancel the order, but Last Crusade is now sold out again.

Another terrible customer service experience incoming.

Sent Toy Story 3 and Cinderella back for replacement copies in late April due to spine slashes, 10 days later "replacements" are finally received, but wait, they're exactly the same copies (I happened to open the seal half way off Toy Story 3, which is how I know) I sent them back for a replacement and even worse they arrived in a cardboard envelope. I guess it confirms one thing, the damaged copies are just sold on to dupe people who might not have experience in the steelbook field.

Fed up with gambling with Zavvi, going to send them back for a refund, which I expect to receive in another 10 days. Utterly disappointing.
 
Zavvi replaced my Cinderella steelbook due to a spine slash. First they tried to get me to accept a partial refund. I just re-iterated that I would like a replacement and it was replaced (free of charge) and is on its way. I just hope the new one comes with no damage. Thought I'd share a good story about Zavvi.

I think this depends, most of my defect steelbooks got only partially refunded from Zavvi (after message back and forth many many times) only one time that they shipped the replacement...
 
Think Zavvi really need to look at how they ship jumbo steelbooks as I don't think there option of sending them in a jiffy bag is working - especially considering how well they always package the normal size steelbooks?

Had Hobbit Extended steelbook arrive with a big dent and scratch and, after initially being offered a 15% refund, got them to agree to send a replacement - whilst advising them that perhaps they should use better packaging. Replacement arrived this morning, again in a normal jiffy bag, and while there are no dents there is another scratch across the front.

Going to email Zavvi again now but, while I am an OCD collector, I am tempted just to keep this one as loathed to go through the whole email, return, replacement process again as I know it is just going to be sent in a jiffy bag again and is a scratch across the front the lesser of 2 evils :)
 
I can't believe how inept their customer service is.
I sent back two copies of Brave that were spine slashed and have only received a refund notification for one copy.
I have contacted them to say this and the reply I get tells me that I only ever ordered one copy yet there are two orders in my order history! I just don't even...
