I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

Remember when Zavvi said they were getting rid of their rewardz scheme?

Well, it's still there and there it should stay. There's no excuse for getting rid of it other than getting too big for ones boots in the profit department is there?

At least I'm sure the extra points that appeared recently where from a recent purchase made after June 26th. Hmm...

You're right. I placed an order on 27/6 for one of the clearance items which was dispatched on 30/6. My account has been credited with points in respect of this order.

Furthermore, when I placed orders on 29/6 and 30/6, their website advised at checkout of the number of points that would be awarded in respect of those orders. That information was also repeated in the order confirmation e-mails they sent out.

It will be interesting to see if they honour the allocation of those points, once the orders have been completed.

So I got a 15% code. I cancelled all my pre-orders (except a couple that sold out) and replaced my orders. I've been 99% lucky with their shipping so far so I know I'm pressing my luck, but I really like those Disney steelbooks.

Guess that's our general problem. Despite the fact that company policy, customer service etc. are lousy we all like their steelbooks much too much to give up ordering them completely. Don't think anybody will cancel the Disney / Pixar or Indiana Jones steelbooks once they startet collecting them. Even if the risk of getting them damaged is now considerably bigger.

Yeah, they are only one use codes. Zavvi emailed them out yesterday.

Ah that would explain it. I severed all ties with Zavvi a few years back due to diabolical customer servive and unsubscribed. I vowed never to use them again but with the collapse of HMV, PLAY, and the rise of steelbooks, I had no choice. Guess I should resubscribe.

Thanks UpsetSmiley - you are a true gent.

Received a few steels yesterday (TMNT and 3:10) and while they did come in the crappy new mailers they had actually wrapped them fully in PROPER bubble wrap (as opposed to that wafer thin crap they had been using).

Hopefully they will do this on all orders but these are the first of the new style mailers that I'd received with bubble wrap. Rest either had no padding or the thin white foam stuff.

Both steels were mint despite a few bashes to the boxes. So a minor improvement at least.

Zagreus, IF you can find a way to actually subscribe, you're a better person that I. There is NO option to subscribe to emails. I've no idea how it is that everyone gets these email alerts and codes and such. I've even asked them on Facebook and they've promised to add me to a mailing list, but still nothing.

Staying on topic, this Steelbook is one of the best surprises I've had in a long while. Pre-ordered with great satisfaction.

cancelled Ghostbusters 2 pre-order @ £19.99-reordered at £14.99 using reward points-£13.97-thanks Zavvi (sic)-good to know nothing changes around here!!!!

Well, Paypal has declined my order for my Disney steels, so reordered with my card and sent a message to Zavvi to cancel the original Paypal order (As it was made with a discount code which was used with Robin Hood as well).

That should be okay, right? @_@

You and me both, mate. The gf gets notifications of pre orders going live, but I don't and neither of us receive codes. I shouldn't be surprised, it is Zavvi after all.

Done that before, all I get is "That email address is already in our database".

Yeah? Well if it's already in your database then send me some damn emails!
I had the same happen when I tried to re-subscribe to their emails after unsubscribing (years ago).

I even went so far as to contact Zavvi's support staff who said they were going to ask their technical staff to re-add me... did it ever happen? Nope.

In the end I just created a new email address that forwarded everything to the one I use and signed up for their emails using that, I've got at least some emails since then... though for some reason people still appear to get ones that I do not.

It's stupid that I had to resort to doing that, but at least it works.

I've just had another 'Mystery Discount' email so I decided to check out how much it was worth and consistently get "The promotion code you entered is invalid or not applicable to the contents of your basket." no matter what I try it on!

---------- Post added at 04:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:17 PM ----------

According to another forum the codes are the same as the ones emailed yesterday!!
The email is a reminder in case you never used it!

Maybe it would help or maybe it would not, but Zavvi should put a "Fragile. Easily Dented. Place nothing on top" sticker on the cardboard mailers.

It seems that the damage I have seen comes from weight being placed on top of the mailers. The mailers never look damaged in any way in the area where the steelbooks are dented.
