Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

1/19/2013 Member Nyvo tweeted Zaavi about packaging concerns. They said they may be looking into alternate packaging methods.

I had placed one order yesterday before I knew about the mystery code and it wouldn't let me cancel because it said it was in the "All Steelbooks Offer". (seems a bit wrong, to me).

I got this Zavvi SERVER error page when I tried to cancel myself.

I assumed, apparently very wrongly, that customer service would get my message before the order shipped and cancel it for me, as I had placed a second order with the mystery code.

Well, that was incorrect and this morning both orders shipped.

Of course, now I have a response form Zavvi that I can return the already shipped item at my own expense when it arrives.

Needless to say, I just cancelled the few orders I still had with them - Avengers, Elektra and another steelbook.

Totally done with them. I believe in second, and maybe even third chances, but when I paying a premium for an item, I don't want two of them. :(

yeah you got the standard button reply. there customer service is the worst. Glad I was able to cancel a few steels, because Germany was getting the same ones. Hope this happens with all my Zavvi pre-orders

Sorry to read about this. This has happened to me before, ordering with a discount code requesting to cancel previous recent order. Failed cancellation message, shipment notice following day yadda yadda.

You could explain to them via their Twitter account (@ZavviHelp) and a customer service representative might hear you out and might be able to help you.

I don't blame you for cancelling your orders, it's a long shot but I'm hoping this might prompt a discussion at Zavvi headquarters.
 
When Zavvi started doing exclusive steelbooks, not long after we heard HMV had gone into administration and PLAY.COM were becoming part of RAKUTEN and wouldn't be doing exclusives any more I thought, great, ZAVVI are stepping up so there's light at the end of the tunnel.As a result, more of us have purchased from them more than we used to, resulting in a plethora of problems, from poor customer service, overpricing, shoddy packaging to delayed orders.
How many of us would buy from ZAVVI if they didn't do so many exclusives?
 
Zavvi have people over a barrel with these exclusives, I don't understand a company the size of amazon can't get exclusives, their customer service is amazing, if they got more, zavvi would go bust.

The way Zavvi promotes Steelbooks in their emails makes me think they rely a lot on that part of their business, so are keen to make sure they acquire exclusivity on as many titles as possible.

I only buy if they are 10 GBP (usually 6.99) or lower from Zavvi, in hopes they are taking a loss.

Cant someone from Ninja try to find out why Zavvi isn't shipping anything any more ?
Well, they've shipped out my '71 (studiocanal) and apparently Planet Hulk (lionsgate), so something is moving at least, hopefully the backlog will start ship out this week (provided everyone didn't cancel there orders, having got fed up with waiting).

No news on Horns, Mockingjay Pt1. or Paddington yet...
 
i was wondering, if you buy 4 steels and get the tracked shipping method for free(international shipping), is the package better/are the steels more protected? does it get generally delivered faster(as i would guess)?
