I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

Does anyone have any idea about GPL, Nemo got sent by GPL by zavvi. I have never heard of them, and tracking number is also very unusual, 6 digit number.

I have a friend who recieved Nemo this morning and as best as we can figure out GPL stands for Guernsey Post Limited. Zavvi's warehouse is in Guernsey so it makes sense that they hand their deliveries over to GPL who in turn pass them to Royal Mail (for UK deliveries at least). It should be delivered by your regular postman. In fact my copy of Star Trek is on the way right now via GPL.
What we can't figure out is the six digit tracking number which does not appear to be useful in any way on any website. Typical Zavvi I suppose. :wtf:

i wish zavvi never re-opened after they went under administration.
i like the titles but the same ones again and again?
come on...

They never re-opened after they went bust, The Hut Group (i.e. The Hut, Sendit, IWOOT + others) bought the right to just the Zavvi name so they could use it for an online store.

Zavvi as they are now are nothing to do with the old Zavvi with it's actual shops on the high street.

I emailed zavvi about deleting my account and this is what i got:

"Thank you for getting in touch.

You order was cancelled and account deleted as it did not conform to our high security standards."

Has anyone else received this? I want to order with my new account but not get deleted again.

just curious why when i order something from amazon.co.uk, it takes about a week to a week and a half to reach canada, but when i order from zavvi, it takes more than 2 weeks?

My orders have typically arrived within 6 business days of being mailed out. Maybe they just take a while from wherever they get sorted once they arrive here. Canada Post is slow for packages within the country, my Future Shop orders take forever from Vancouver to Toronto... But are pretty fast within Ontario and Quebec.

Btw, I'm in Toronto...

Thanks for info. Yes, that 6 digit number is only thing confusing me.

In past zavvi parcels are delivered by postman, so I know that it's delivered by post locally. But Their tracking numbers are always weird. I even tried with trackmail.co.uk from which I received my previous orders from zavvi. :wtf:

Is Zavvi's version of the Robocop steel region free, or region b like the regular UK version that's been out for a while?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Edit: Nevermind, it's sold out anyway!

i want to mix pre orders with in stock steels. How will they charge me? will they charge me the total for all the steels? or the ones in stock first and then charge me again when the pre orders ship?

Zavvi charge a one off shipping fee and then charge for each steel when they send them. They do however always send items as soon as they are in stock, therefore splitting orders

Fast Shipping but.......Crappy Packaging or Bad Quality Assurance?

I think it's bad quality assurance. I received my white star trek steel badly dented in the back. The packaging itself was in pristine condition. I'm guessing the person packaging the steels squeezed my copy too hard, or dropped it, or who knows what.

Ok, so I've been trying to get Zavvi to help me out with my 2 Finding Nemo orders since Thursday, and then they decide to help by cancelling the whole thing.Truly the worst online retailer ever, and their automated messages don't help one bit. It's a frickin' lottery. The earlier you pre-order, the less chance you have of actually receiving your copy. Logic? Sorry for the rant, but this really pissed me off.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that £14.99 is too high a price for all these repackaged older releases. The ones with embossing/debossing or where HDN users vote on inside art are obviously worth the price, but I just received ID4, which isn't that bad, but I feel a bit ripped off at £14.99.

I agree. It's too expensive. It's ok for new releases or special editions, but usually it's just a repackaging of an older release like you say. I think £12 would be more reasonable for those releases.

Has anyone returned a steelbook or any other item to zavvi with all the right information as in order number and authorisation number etc and still been denied a refund?? this happened to me lately as I sent two star trek steelbooks back and only received a refund for one of them as they said I didn't have the authorisation number for it but I did, I contacted them again but the response I got was useless.

Has anyone had a pre-order that dropped in price where they used a discount code?

For example, Jungle Book and Little Mermaid are currently over 40 combined so the 4 off 40 discount code applies. If they have to drop down in price to below 40 pre-code, I wonder if the discount will go away, will it stay in place and be discounted more, or will they not even drop the price due to the code being on the order?

In my previous experience with a similar issue, the reduced price was not taken into account and as the new price was cheaper (even with discount) i was told to cancel and re-order.

...Have to say it's a shame at how Zavvi's inventory ordering system works, i don't know why they can't send multiple orders together like play used to and Amazon still do for orders of items that are released at the same time ? Just seems a strange and expensive way of sending packages. This recent wave were all released on the same day yet i'm receiving a different steel every day, it just seems unnecessary, why not put them all in one box ? It's better for the steels, cheaper and less likely for any to go missing.
Anyway rant over... :movie:

Just out of curiosity, is zavvi a subsidiary of play.com or related to play.com? I am asking because I think zavvi has been taking over all steelbooks (and plus more) that play.com was scheduled to release.

No, Zavvi had no connection to Play.com and never have had any.

Zavvi was once a UK high street chain selling mainly records, DVD etc but they went bust and the right to the Zavvi name was sold by the administrators to The Hut Group.

Zavvi is a wholly owned by The Hut Group who also run/own other online sites such as The Hut, Sendit, IWOOT and quite a few other small ones.
