I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

Ok I have recieced 3 damaged steelbooks from Zavvi this week. It cost me £50 just to get bent up, slashed spines and dents (not little paint chips). I contact zavvi and sent them pics and the best they offer is a £8 refund. It just doesnt seem fair to pay so much money for damaged ****. I bought 2 nemos to help insure I got a mint one and both came f***ed up. Not happy at all.

My question is, has anybody ever asked for more and how did it turn out?

hi, wanted to ask where can i message zavvi to ask for general information.

I have not received an order and its been over a month, i was told to fill in a form and send it to a specific email they gave me and i havent had a reply in over a week.

How can i contact them to ask anything not regarding a direct order.

Thanks and sorry if this has been mentioned before :)

Whilst I agree with the majority of comments and the seemingly poor service, in my opinion they maybe/are trying to get away from call centre attitude of a lot of other e-tailers, ie "you bought online, let's solve any problem online". I prefer to speak to a voice as I do at Amazon especially if they call you, but if they don't act on it you have no proof. I have used their (Zavvi's) Message Centre with success on a couple of occasions. To me it seems the dented, scratched Steels overseas are the problem due to cost of postage against the items worth. I think a lot of us have become accustomed to Amazon's good CS regarding replacement. A suggestion could be that members to ok pics of the packaging before they opening as it has the order # on the outside and might improve chances of any refund.

Personally I don't think their packaging is up to the rigours of overseas and they need to go up a bit in size/strength.

Play.com 46 Orders of 2 damaged!
Zavvi 6 orders 4 damaged
The packing from Zavvi is really garbage
Canceled all pre-orders great trouble because of that I want the packaging from Play.com again

Got my first wrecked steel from zavvi today.

Those of you that had to deal with returns, did you receive a full refund, including return postage? How long did it take?

Honestly, these days I feel like HDN are pushing Zavvi exclusives a little bit too much...it's like in your face "LINK LIVE BUY NOW!!!" or "CLOSE TO SELLING OUT BUY NOW!!!"

I do my best to support HDN where I can...but I don't trust Zavvi & nobody with any clout seems to be willing to ask the hard questions around here. As soon as somebody brings up anything slightly controversial it's shot down & ridiculed by most or simply deleted.

I'm not a **** stirrer or an anarchist but something seriously does not sit right with this whole JB & LM mess. I feel like we're are being lied to and manipulated by Zavvi 100%....

Everyone keeps throwing this 10k figure around but that may be complete rubbish. I hope Wreck returns with more details because anything else is just speculation and that makes it a little bit annoying reading threads on this forum.

So true. Especially in the IM3 Zavvi thread. People just pulling random numbers out their ass to slight Zavvi. I do think Zavvi are starting to get a bit full of themselves though. I think they are trying to push the limit to see how far they can go before nobody wants buy their sh*t

It takes.... A while...

I contacted them ten days ago to report a damaged Black Swan.

Most likely you will have to email them with a picture of the damaged steel and then they will email you a link to the returns form you need to send and they'll also send you a pre paid Collect+ postage label.

I believe refunds can take a couple of weeks once they have the item, though to be fair, last time I returned something to Zavvi it was 4-5 days.

What Antman said. But the pre-paid Collect+ return label don't work from Norway so I had to pay the return shipping myself. I then e-mailed them picture of postage cost and received answer back that they had refunded the cost.

Haven't received anything yet, but this was only yesterday.

When Zavvi first started releasing steelbooks they were like The Little Engine That Could. Fast forward to today, well, that little engine is barreling right down our throats! The Zavvi steelbook onslaught is in full effect!

Indeed, I've only been collecting a relatively short period but I am thinking about stopping as its just getting crazy the amount of titles being released.

Steelbook releases were quite special and it was premium titles like Iron man, Thor etc but now its just a cash cow for Zavvi to release every title they can.

I know I don't have to buy them but when you are trying to collect steelbooks then its difficult missing out titles, I feel sorry for those who want to collect every UK release as it will cost serious money :(

I do wonder how much (vested) interest certain parties from HD-Ninja have in all these new titles coming out ?

Can't they just release the entire history of cinema in one jumbo steelbook and have done with it?

We need a survey for improving the packaging from Zavvi:angry:

I recieved a damaged steelbook and didn't have to take any pictures. I have sent it back using collect+ but it has been 11 days now and I still haven't heard anything. So yeah they are definitely not quick as far as returns go.

hey mate I don't mean to worry you but with my last experience from zavvi if they don't accept your steelbooks for whatever reason in the warehouse they don't get back to you to let you know, I'm not saying they haven't accepted yours but if you don't hear anything in the next few days it might be best to contact them, I sent 4 damaged steels back in a box and I received a refund for 2 after roughly 5 or 6 days and they never even let me know about the other 2 I had to contact them to then find out my steelbooks had not been accepted, I'm currently trying to get this sorted out with them, just thought I would let you know;)

Regarding Replacements (issue of concern)

Thought I'd post about this as it's an issue which is cropping up time and time again.

Quite honestly I find it disgusting the way in which certain retailers lie to customers, saying there is no stock to replace a damaged or lost item, yet days later they're selling hundreds of leftover stock. Surely I'm not alone in feeling this way?

Just today, over 100 copies of Finding Nemo have gone up on Zavvi (via ebay), yet there are members that have received dented/spine slashed copies that were told 'none left for an exchange'.

Why are retailers not putting some stock aside for this? Why are customers being lied to? Why are we forced to buy more than 1 copy of a steelbook in fear that a lone order may arrive damaged and not replaceable? (Not only that but some people have ordered 2 or more and those have been damaged too)

I honestly think it's not fair when people have ordered months in advance and are then left with such poor service.

Can anything be done about this?

EDIT: Just to be clear, this is not a thread targeting Zavvi. Play.com did this too many times, and so do Amazon on occasion (not sure on other retailers myself though).

Yep... and several months back I ordered some steels from TheHut.com (same company as Zavvi) and sent one damaged steel back to them.

Honestly... literally... it took more than 2 months to get a replacement. And that was after more than a half dozen emails staying on their tail to get it done. It was a very very painful and long and drawn out and tiring process. I only stuck with it on principle. But then I actually caved and totally gave up. Called it a loss, and then, out of the blue, got the replacement in the mail.

Getting the return postage credited was an additional month beyond that.
